When I notice intriguing places in the community, those where I value the idea or aesthetic, I often have the intention to ‘one day stop by and check it out.’ One day rarely arrives, and I don’t interact with them…my intention can be kept for months or years without action.
Because of inaction, I have missed out on potentially favorite restaurants, entertainment venues, and social opportunities. Not only do I miss out on valuable experiences, I miss the opportunity to support those who want to share their vision, mission, or passion and end up feeling partially responsible for the community’s loss.
It is time to find a place to act on intentions, to imagine the impact we could have on our communities if we add 30 minutes a week of focused effort to make a difference. I am making this my Wednesday challenge.
To start, I challenge myself and those who wish to be more intentional, empowered, and impactful to consider: What do you value in your community? Find 30 minutes to do something supportive like sharing your intention act with a friend or committing to an experience by adding it to your schedule.
