We are starting off another busy week of patient fittings including bilateral above knee C-Leg’s with custom designed sockets!

The foundation of every prosthesis is the design and fit of the unique socket interface! Capturing the intricacies and nuances of the patients residual is the key; providing global contact and support over the entire residual limb!

Every prosthesis at Dream Team Prosthetics begins with the design and fit of the socket interface! We start with a plaster cast impression of the residual limb taken by hand for the highest level of accuracy!

We then fabricate the diagnostic check socket on site in our state of the art laboratory, for quality oversight and expediting the fitting process!

We will evaluate the socket fit and overall alignment while the patient walks in the parallel bars for safety. If changes or adjustments are necessary, we can easily make modifications to the check socket. Once everything is optimized, we use the diagnostic check socket as the guide for creating the definitive socket with flexible inner liner and carbon composite frame!

We typically complete this entire process in a matter of days; allowing the patient to receive the new prosthesis in a very timely manner for a more functional outcome.

Bilateral Life Camp 2025 is in the books with our largest group of first time attendees and our absolute best, most engaged and dedicated participants!

With folks traveling all the way from Slovenia, Belgium, Mexico, Norway, Tajikistan, United Kingdom, Israel, Guatemala and from all across the United States!

Congratulations to everyone that made the commitment to come and experience new challenges everyday, being outside of your comfort zone and pushing perceived boundaries to achieve or exceed daily goals!

At Dream Team Prosthetics Bilateral Life Camp, the most common struggle is learning to walk down a hill with control, stability and consistency! That’s why each day we focus on that activity!

The incredible group of bilateral peer mentors worked one on one with multiple participants on the techniques necessary to learn the skill of walking down hills!

The first phase is having the prosthetics completely optimized starting with the custom socket interface; knee and feet component selection; alignment and microprocessor knee programming!

It’s important to understand that not all microprocessor knees and feet will provide a bilateral above knee user with optimal function and usability!

Bilateral Life Camp is always the launch point for many individuals to obtain knowledge and experience what can be possible by adopting effective training methods and using fully optimized prosthetics that are designed for the best function and mobility independence!

This group is amazing; showing such resilience and passion for learning and concentrating on improving function and mobility with bilateral above knee limb loss!

Peer mentors provide coaching and encouragement to push folks out of their comfort zone to expand their capabilities!

The foundation of every prosthesis is the design and fit of the prosthetic socket; the important interface between the human body and the prosthesis! To be more functional and active requires the most optimized and appropriate prosthetic solutions!

So many of this years participants have reached or exceeded their mobility goals on the first day! Encouraging each other to overcome fear and anxiety to be more efficient and independent!

2025 Bilateral Life Camp! It’s about to get real!

Our amazing team is ready to welcome our largest group to Dream Team Prosthetics!

Each day we will address the goals of each participant and work one on one to achieve a better understanding of the necessary steps to improve mobility independence!

Bilateral Life Camp is about improving problem solving skills and learning to focus on not just doing “work” everyday but focusing on the quality aspect!! You can work hard each day but never achieve improvement; practice makes permanent! (Not perfect!)

If you practice the same bad technique everyday, then that becomes permanent!

We are excited to meet 28 first time participants traveling in from all across the United States and internationally!!!

2025 Bilateral Life Camp is a little more than a week away! We are excited to welcome our largest group of FIRST TIME attendees!

Peer support is a key component; empowering individuals to get out of their comfort zone to learn new mobility skills is paramount for individuals with bilateral above knee limb loss!

Each day we have multiple sessions that are designed to address overcoming fear and everyday obstacles that can create anxiety when trying to return to being a confident, community ambulator!

Dream Team Prosthetics clinical team envisioned and organized the very first bilateral above knee amputee workshop in 2006; this was our vision and to see it grow and expand is truly exciting! We are proud to be able to show so many individuals with bilateral above knee limb loss what is possible with custom designed, optimized prosthetic solutions and effective training protocols!

The foundation of every prosthesis we design at Dream Team Prosthetics, starts with the socket!

We custom design each socket on site for the best results, maximum quality control and more timely fittings!

It all starts with a plaster impression taken by hand by Clinical Director Chad Simpson! Modification, thermoforming, carbon composite lamination and assembly all takes place in our 3500 square foot laboratory!

Each phase from casting, diagnostic socket fitting, alignment trials, optimization, definitive socket fitting and training all takes place on our campus at Dream Team Prosthetics!

Walking independently without a cane, crutches or other assistive devices is why people travel to Dream Team Prosthetics!

Erick made commitment to attend the 2024 Bilateral Life Camp; he almost backed out at the last minute due to fear and anxiety!

However, he knew it was the right thing for him as he could not reach a level of mobility he desired; walking without a cane!

At our ‘24 Camp, he was able to experience what more optimized prosthetics and specialized training would do for him!

He returned to Dream Team Prosthetics a few weeks ago to be fit with custom designed prosthetic sockets that would give him better control and stability as well as complete optimization, alignment, updated programming and daily training!

This video shows some of his progress and the first time walking down the steep slope without assistance; now he has a new perspective about what is possible with mobility independence in his daily life!

He traveled all the way from California for the highly specialized, effective treatment that is only available from the experts at Dream Team Prosthetics!
