How Often Should You Replace Your Toothbrush?

Your toothbrush might be overdue for retirement.

Dentists recommend replacing your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months, or sooner if the bristles start to look worn.

A worn toothbrush doesn’t clean your teeth as well and can allow plaque to build up.

Also, remember to replace your toothbrush after being sick.

Take a look at your toothbrush tonight. If the bristles are bent or frayed, it’s time for a new one.

Are You Brushing Correctly?

Educational content builds trust.

Caption idea:
Quick brushing check.

Are you doing these 3 things?

✔ Brushing for 2 full minutes
✔ Using a soft bristle toothbrush
✔ Holding your brush at a 45° angle to your gums

Most people brush for only 45 seconds. Your teeth deserve better than that.

Set a timer tonight and see how long you actually brush.

New team member alert at Coccaro Dental! 👋 Meet Dr Claudio, our four‑legged guest dentist for the week.

He’s a senior pup who recently lost his owner, but we’ve got some wonderful news: he’s already headed to a loving new home with one of our own family members. To kick off his new chapter, he’s been visiting the office dressed like a true dental pro. Think tiny scrubs, a cute lab coat, and a big wagging tail.

Why? Because a tough loss doesn’t mean the end of joy. It means new beginnings, extra hugs, and a reason to smile even brighter. That’s exactly the kind of atmosphere our practice prides itself on. Our team is all about warmth, understanding, and making sure people feel cared for. That ethos has been at the heart of Dr Coccaro’s practice for years

Myth: If your gums bleed, you should brush less.

Fact: Bleeding gums are often a sign of inflammation and brushing/flossing actually helps reduce it.

Bleeding gums are one of the earliest signs of gum disease, but the good news is it’s treatable when caught early.

If your gums bleed regularly, it might be time for a professional cleaning.

Your gums should not bleed when you brush. Period.

Schedule your visit with Coccaro Dental and keep those gums healthy!

Signs You Might Be Grinding Your Teeth

People often don’t realize they grind.

Caption idea:
You might be grinding your teeth if you notice:

• Morning headaches
• Jaw soreness

Many people grind while they sleep and don’t realize it.

A custom night guard can protect your teeth and your jaw.

These everyday favorites can stain your teeth.

Coffee
Red wine
Tea
Blueberries
Tomato sauce

You don’t have to give them up, but rinsing with water afterward helps reduce staining.

If your smile could use a refresh, professional whitening can make a huge difference.

🦷 Signs You May Have a Cavity (Before It Hurts!)

Cavities don’t always cause pain right away. In fact, many start quietly, which is why knowing the early warning signs can save you time, discomfort, and money later on.

⚡ Tooth Sensitivity
A sharp zing when eating something cold, hot, or sweet may be one of the first signs of a cavity.

🔍 Dark Spots or Discoloration
White, brown, or dark spots on a tooth can signal early decay—even if you don’t feel pain yet.

👅 Rough or Sticky Areas
If a tooth feels rough or sticky when you run your tongue over it, decay could be starting.

😬 Mild Tooth Pain or Pressure
Occasional discomfort when chewing shouldn’t be ignored. Pain that comes and goes can mean a cavity is developing.

😮‍💨 Bad Breath or Bad Taste
Persistent bad breath or an unpleasant taste may be caused by bacteria trapped in a decayed area.

⏰ Don’t Wait for Pain
Catching cavities early usually means simpler, faster treatment. Waiting too long can lead to bigger problems.

📅 If you notice any of these signs, scheduling a dental visit sooner rather than later can help protect your smile.
