If you have arthritis, you may be concerned about your weight. Many people believe they can't lose weight if they have arthritis. This is not true!
Arthritis inhibits some people from exercising due to pain and stiffness. Weight loss actually helps to reduce arthritis symptoms because as you lose weight, less strain is being put on your joints. Diet also plays a part. It's important to eat an anti-inflammatory diet to elevate discomfort associated with arthritis.
If you are unable to exercise, it's still possible to lose weight. Once you lose some weight, you'll find yourself more able to be active. If not, ask your doctor if there are any safe ways for you to get moving or start moving again. Your doctor may suggest physical therapy or other exercise programs specifically designed for people with this condition.
Everyone has their own way of losing weight and keeping it off — what works for one person may not work for another person with the same problem — but here are some tips that may help:

1) Make small changes instead of huge ones; change one thing at a time so that it becomes routine (e.g., replace your morning bagel with an egg sandwich)

2) Avoid processed foods and fried foods. These foods can cause inflammation in the body and lead to more discomfort.

3) Try a low sodium diet. Switch out your favorite seasoning for low salt or no salt versions.

Weight Loss vs Inch Loss

If you've been working out for several weeks and you're not losing weight, it's possible that you're gaining muscle instead of fat.

When your body needs more calories than your diet provides, it turns to your fat stores for energy. The more energy your body needs to draw from the fat stores, the more weight you lose.

The most common way of measuring weight loss is by using a scale, but this method isn't always accurate. In fact, some people can go up or down in weight even if they haven't changed their eating or exercise habits at all. This occurs because muscle is denser than fat and weighs more per square inch than fat does — so if you start building muscle, it could make you look like you've gained weight even though you haven't gained any actual fat!

If your goal is to lose inches instead of pounds, what matters most is how much space your body takes up inside its clothing — not how much it weighs on a scale.

Your goal might be to lose weight and inches at the same time; however, this can be difficult if your diet doesn't contain enough calories to support both processes simultaneously.

In conversations about weight loss, we must keep in mind the importance of adequate sleep patterns. Sleep gives the body time to rest and recover. After a good night’s sleep, you’re much more energy filled and better able to conquer your day. Beyond that, good sleep impacts your metabolism and appetite hormones - leptin and ghrelin.

Generally, those who get quality sleep (7-9 hours) experience higher fat loss than those who don’t get adequate sleep.
