This was our morning😫rooms full of kiddos testing positive for Influenza A‼️
Not fun.
We’re seeing complications like pneumonia, asthma flare ups, and dehydration, which can be especially hard on little ones.

If you haven’t gotten your flu vaccine yet, please consider it. It helps protect you and, most importantly, the most fragile members of our community.

We’ve seen a noticeable rise in RSV cases this weekend, with many little ones becoming sick enough to need evaluation in the ED. Testing has confirmed multiple cases in our community.

A reminder for parents: babies under 8 months of age are still eligible for the RSV immunization (nirsevimab). This protection helps reduce the severity of illness if they do get RSV.

If you have questions about RSV symptoms, what the course of illness typically looks like, or when to seek care, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help you navigate this season and keep your little ones safe🩵

We are incredibly proud to share that Dr. Benza received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award today from Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for her exceptional work with pediatric residents and Emory medical students🥳👏🏽

It is truly a joy and privilege to welcome students and residents into our clinic as they learn the art and heart of pediatrics. Watching the next generation of pediatricians grow, right here in our own practice, is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

We know it can be frustrating when your child isn’t prescribed antibiotics, but here’s why we’re careful:
🔹 Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections.
Many childhood illnesses, especially during peak respiratory season, are caused by viruses, which do not get better with antibiotics.
🔹 Using antibiotics when they’re not needed can do more harm than good.
❌🚨Please avoid giving leftover or over-the-counter antibiotics.

What We’re Seeing Right Now➡️Lots of Flu A😢
Flu A is a viral infection, meaning antibiotics will not help.
We will talk with you about whether Tamiflu is right for your child.

Our respiratory viruses have arrived😓😷Dr. Benza and Dr. Sandoval have both seen Flua cases this week, so we can officially say that flu season is here. We’re also seeing plenty of bronchiolitis cases in little ones.

Good news is…There’s still time to get your flu vaccine💉
If your baby is younger than 8 months, they may also be eligible for RSV immunization.

Prevention tips:
✔️Get vaccinated
✔️Wash hands often
✔️Stay home when feeling sick
