It's the unfortunate trend in dentistry to take the tooth out and do an implant. It is better to save one's own teeth. So much can be done now with skills, knowledge, and advanced technology to save and preserve one's teeth. Natural teeth function better and last longer than dental implants. We see dental implant centers all around, why not tooth-saving centers? We are that tooth-saving center. Protecting what others can't - one tooth at a time.

As a tooth begins to die, there is often pain, which later subsides. The expert dentist will listen to what the patient tells them to help determine the condition of the tooth. Sometimes further testing will be done at a later time. Root canal success rates are higher when the root canal is completed sooner.

Resorption of a tooth is a serious concern and should be treated as soon as possible. Tooth resorption continues over time once it starts. Resorption can progress quickly or slowly. "Watching it" should not be advised. By not treating resorption, the resorption progresses, and the tooth could be lost.

Laser microsurgery is a precise procedure to treat resorption and help save the tooth. Finding an expert at saving teeth is essential when this type of problem develops.

A patient came with a failed root canal on one root. She did not want her tooth to be extracted.
I am proud that I can serve patients better by saving their failed root canal-treated teeth with a procedure I have learned: root-end microsurgery, also known as apicoectomy. The procedure was performed with the laser, which results in minimal soreness and faster healing.

I'm a dentist who is an advocate for saving/rescuing teeth.

1st picture - the tooth with the arrow pointing at the infection
2nd picture - immediately after micro-surgery
3rd picture - 3-month follow-up after the procedure, shows complete healing. The tooth has been saved!

Jerry relates how little soreness there was after a root-end microsurgery using the laser. We use a ErCr:YSGG laser for these surgeries, which results in less soreness, faster healing, and better results.

Microsurgery is rescue surgery, the work of saving health, when every millimeter matters.
I work doing endodontic microsurgery (apicoectomy): precise work in the apical delta to save natural teeth.
If you’ve been told extraction is the only option, come see us first to determine whether microsurgery can save your tooth and health.
