Thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk cats with us at the Harvest Market on Saturday. Your kindness, questions, stories, and support brought so much heart to the day. Your generosity this giving season means the world. The cats feel it, we feel it, and it truly makes a difference for the work we do year-round.
And a big shout-out to the Community Foundation for bringing together local nonprofits and lifting us up during Southwest Colorado Gives . Their support helps shine a light on the amazing work happening across our region.

Durango loves its pets, and it shows. Thank you for bringing that same love and energy to the cats at Cat Care Durango.

A quick peek into the future: in 2026, we’ll be shifting away from monthly stretching sessions and exploring a quarterly schedule instead—plus we’re dreaming up even more fun events to bring joy to you and our kitties!

Our rescue kitties insisted on popping in to say hello—and to share a little joy with this adorable collage. These sweet faces (and many more waiting in the wings) are the reason we work so hard for a brighter future every single day.

And since the cat is officially out of the bag… we’re thrilled to announce that Cat Care Durango has found a new permanent home! It’s conveniently located just across the parking lot from our current spot—we’ll now be in Unit A (the very first unit as you pull in).

We’ve been pouring our hearts and elbow grease into remodeling the new space so it’s just as special as our current home… only better. To meet our move-out deadline and reopen right after the New Year, we’ll be pausing normal operations from December 10 through December 31. Our target reopening date is January 5.

As we prepare for the big move, we’d be grateful for any volunteers who’d like to lend a hand and be part of this exciting transition. Message us, email, or give us a call, and we’ll add you to our volunteer group so we can keep you posted as needs come up.

One more heads-up from the kitties: once we settle into our new home, they’ll now be requesting a small entry fee to help support their care. But don’t worry—they’ve prepared a little refreshment and a fun trinket as their thank-you.

A sincere and heartfelt thank you to Girl Scout Troop 27994 — a dedicated group of Brownies and Daisies — for crafting and donating a wonderful set of handmade fleece blankets for the cats at Cat Care Durango.

The troop arrived with thoughtfully made, colorful blankets, each one created with care. Their generosity went beyond the blankets themselves — these girls showed genuine interest in the work we do. We discussed compassion, community service, and the many ways caring for animals helps strengthen our community as a whole.

Their curiosity, respectful questions, and positive energy were a great reminder of the impact young people can make when they choose to get involved.

Troop 27994, thank you for your kindness, effort, and commitment to helping others. Cat Care Durango is grateful for your contribution and your spirit — and we can confirm that our residents happily put their new blankets to use right away.

We’re feeling extra grateful this week — and for good reason! A huge shoutout to Ignacio Youth Services ( Ignacio Youth Services - IYS ) for spending their time making cozy handmade blankets for our kitties and baking fresh pumpkin bread for our team!

A few friendly reminders to help keep your kitties safe tonight:
🕯️ Keep curious paws away from candles and decorations.
🚪 Make sure your indoor cats stay inside—door openings for trick-or-treaters can be tempting escapes!
🍬 Candy is for humans only—especially chocolate and anything with xylitol, which can be dangerous for pets.
😺 Give your cat an extra cozy spot to hide if all the Halloween excitement feels a little too spooky.
