Our heartfelt thanks go out to MAPDA (Mothers Against Prescription Drug Abuse) for their generous $5000 donation to our CORE co-responder program.

MAPDA was founded in 2011 by Janet Janes with the help of Congresswoman Mary Bono. Janet Janes lost her son to an overdose and wanted to do something to help prevent other mothers from experiencing this tragedy. Take a look at all the information and resources on their website www.MAPDA.net. There is also information about how you can get involved or help the cause.

Most of you are familiar with our CORE program that pairs Law Enforcement Officers with a Behavior Health Provider to provide a collaborative response to persons in the community who may be experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Frequently drug abuse and addiction go hand in hand with behavioral health issues. However, this isn’t always the case and organizations like MAPDA encourage open dialog and educating yourself and your family on the dangers of opioids. Tragic deaths have happened to first time users who may not have been aware of the dangers. We will put this donation to good use in our efforts to fight this epidemic.
