If you’ve been feeling the call- to reset, reconnect, and remember who you are- this is your invitation to say yes.

Because this isn’t just a retreat. It’s a seasonal rite of passage held in the golden light of the Autumn Equinox in the mountains of Mancos, Colorado. A chance to let go of the noise, soften your system, and return to your body, your purpose, and the plants.

We have a special group forming, and folks joining from all over the country! With people traveling from near and far, a local community helping to hold the container, and the plants themselves rising up to meet us, I know this gathering is going to be nothing short of profound.

We will close registration at midnight on Monday, September 1st- unless spaces fill before then. Join us!

It has been such a special process working with my mother, Julie Brinkley to create this cookbook. The beginning tells you about some of my favorite herbs to work with on a daily basis, including how to do that by making your own teas and working with our line of herbal products perfectly suited for the kitchen. Then we share some favorite recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner & dessert! Many are herbal infused, all are wholesome and nourishing for the whole family!

We are getting excited for the signing event! Making Adaptogenic Peanut Butter & Medicinal Mushroom Cacao Cookies so that you can try some of our favorite treats from the book! Be sure to stop by for an herbal mocktail, some snacks, and your signed copy of the book!

~Ultra Echinacea~⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is our double extraction of Echinacea angustifolia root. We make our alcohol tincture which pulls out the tingly alkamides and then we extract the leftover plant material in water which renders the immunomodulating polysaccharides and other startches. Essentially, you end up with a super-star power-house of immune stimulating goodness!

What is an herbal tincture? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tinctures are alcohol extracts of medicinal plants. Each plant is extracted using a unique ratio of alcohol and water. At Dancing Willow Herbs we use organic cane sugar alcohol to make our tinctures. We choose this because it is completely gluten free, and no sugar remains as it is extremely high proof. These medicines are highly shelf stable and convenient. If you don't want to ingest alcohol, you can always add your tincture to hot water and let the alcohol evaporate for about 15 minutes before taking your dose. We also have a line of glycerites for children and can make specialty glycerites of all our tinctures. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have an extensive line of tinctures, that we have blended to help support various aspects of your daily health and wellness.

Turmeric Explained:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This popular medicinal is anti-inflammatory and can be helpful for any pain picture associated with inflammation. Curcuminoids are among one of the more well known anti-inflammatory constituents and these are best absorbed when combined with black pepper and dietary oils (such as coconut oil or ghee). The mechanism of action behind turmeric's pain relieving/anti-inflammatory action is that it is a Cox-2 modulator. Most non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or Tylenol are Cox-2 inhibitors, which block the pathway that produce what are called inflammatory prostaglandins. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Turmeric doesn't completely block inflammation, but it modulates it. Inflammation is a necessary part of healing, but when it overrides the body for too long it can cause major issues. Because it supports healing while lessening the pain associated with too much inflammation, it can be especially helpful for torn ligaments and other injuries. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And... Turmeric protects the liver, aids digestion, helps reduce oxidative damage and more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What is your favorite way to use turmeric?

Why you shouldn't be intimidated by bulk herbs: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Depending on various herbal teachers or traditions, there can be a wide range of variability when it comes to learning how to make your own herbal preparations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The truth is, however you can begin to incorporate herbs into your life, if you can start experimenting- that is enough. The best medicine is the one that is going to be utilized. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I see a lot of beginner herbalists worrying about the "right" or "wrong" way to do things. My advice is to get some simple herbs (like peppermint, marshmallow, hibiscus or holy basil), take them home and experiment. Simply add them to hot water and see if you taste the flavor and medicine of the plant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Something really special happens when you can develop your own relationship with a plant- unencumbered by what you think you may or may not know.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just find a plant you are interested in, trust your intuition, and start where you are.
