Orthopedic massage therapy is an advanced approach to bodywork that focuses on assessing and treating musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. Unlike traditional massage techniques, orthopedic massage therapy utilizes a specialized understanding of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics to address specific issues such as chronic pain, postural imbalances, and restricted range of motion. Through a combination of manual manipulation, stretching, and targeted exercises, orthopedic massage therapists aim to alleviate pain, restore function, and enhance overall mobility. This therapeutic modality not only offers relief from discomfort but also helps to improve posture, promote faster healing, and prevent future injuries. Whether you're an athlete recovering from a sports-related injury or someone seeking relief from everyday aches and pains, orthopedic massage therapy provides a comprehensive and tailored approach to addressing your unique musculoskeletal needs. If this sounds like what you have been looking for, contact Glass & Glass Bodywork to schedule your appointment with George Glass, BCTMB, LMT

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) a Post-Concussion Treatment Option

(CST) is a gentle, non-invasive form of bodywork that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the bones, tissues, and fluids that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. CST has been used as a complementary therapy for post-concussion syndrome (PCS) to help alleviate symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and neck pain. During a session, the therapist uses light touch to evaluate and release restrictions in the craniosacral system, promoting the body's natural ability to heal and restore balance. CST may be utilized in combination with other therapies, such as physical therapy and vestibular-oculomotor therapy, to help patients recover from a concussion. It is important to note that CST should be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan and under the guidance of a healthcare provider.

What is CranioSacral Therapy?
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on therapeutic modality born from Osteopathy. CST helps the whole biodynamic human release structural and fascial restrictions, as well as energetic and emotional holding patterns. This eases strain and pressure on the delicate central nervous system, improving its function.
Many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more may also be improved. CST helps find a better place of balance and harmony with every treatment session, allowing for deep relaxation, self-healing, and recovery.

Sometimes the most useful information for a potential new client is to hear from an existing client about their experience. I am grateful for Larry Bollinger's thoughtful reflection of his experience with CranioSacral Therapy.

"Lori Ann Glass is someone I’ve trusted for years to help me with chronic back pain and other musculoskeletal issues. Her education and experiences as a Athletic Trainer and Massage Therapist have endowed her with a solid understanding of the subtle interplay of the human body’s joints, muscles and connective tissue. It’s important, when suffering from chronic pain, to be confident that your practitioner can track down the cause and treat your painful symptoms. Her deep knowledge of human anatomy is a wonderful resource as it informs her treatments and adds to a patient’s understanding of what is going on under the hood. The best way to avoid painful physical problems is to understand how your body is functioning as an integrated whole. Lori Ann has endless patience for explaining what is at stake and what strategies or lifestyle modifications might help you make peace with your distressed body.
Now, in all honesty, I cannot describe what happens, technically, during a session with a skilled craniosacral professional like Lori Ann. I can tell you that I climb onto her table, fully clothed and lay on my back. Fun conversation ensues. I relax. She places a gentle hand under a hip, or under a shoulder or cradles my head or neck while performing an almost indiscernible vibrating/rocking motion. In an instant, 90 minutes have elapsed, and I feel better - more optimistic and I feel less pain". ~ Larry Bollinger
