As we all know, exercise can help individuals in all aspects of their lives. However, many people might be hesitant to adopt physical activity into their daily routine because it can be overwhelming. Walking into a gym and being surrounded by machines you have no idea how to work is overwhelming! So, you are not wrong for feeling that way, but introducing physical activity into your daily routine can be simplified!

As we said last week, adopting at least 20 minutes of physical activity each day can help reduce your sleep apnea complications. Knowing this means you don't even have to step foot into a gym if you choose not to; quick and easy exercises you can do at home are just as beneficial! Here is a great article that provides you with some simple exercises you can start doing at home today!

Don't let the fear of being diagnosed with sleep apnea prevent you from receiving the proper care you need; nearly one billion people worldwide have been diagnosed with it! So, you are not alone! But one way to lessen your odds of developing sleep apnea is through physical activity. The Journal of Sleep Medicine reports that even as little as 20 minutes of physical activity each day can lessen one's odds of developing sleep apnea. For years, research has shown that sleep apnea increases an individual's chances of developing severe diseases like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and depression. With more studies being conducted every year, medical professionals are linking it to others too. Within the last year, a study found that individuals who have had undiagnosed sleep apnea for an extended period develop the same type of protein on the brain that causes Alzheimer's dementia. If you believe you or a loved one has undiagnosed sleep apnea, we encourage you to see your doctor and get a sleep study scheduled. Keep those precious memories for later on in life!

A new study by Monash University has found that obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has been linked to an increased risk of dementia.

Although communities throughout the US are starting to get back to normal, we still do not know the lasting damages COVID-19 has unleashed on the world, and it could be years before we fully understand them. However, scientists and researchers are working hard to find commonalities between individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 to determine how it will affect the body in the future.

In a recent study, researchers identified that survivors are more likely to develop insomnia. Developing insomnia can be detrimental to an individual because sleep is a crucial part of our lives. Not receiving the proper amount of sleep can increase your chances of developing severe diseases in the future. If you have overcome your COVID-19 diagnosis and are having issues falling asleep, we recommend seeing a doctor and having a sleep study scheduled!

Although narcolepsy is the least common sleep disorder, individuals need to be aware of it because it can severely affect the body. Narcolepsy occurs when an individual experiences an immense amount of drowsiness throughout the day and randomly falls asleep while doing everyday activities. Even though this disorder has no cure, medical professionals have identified lifestyle changes that individuals can adopt to help manage their condition.
