Living with MS has taught me that gratitude does not always look the way we expect. Some days it is easy. I notice the little wins, the moments that feel effortless, the things that make me smile. Other days it is harder. The fatigue, the flare, the frustration can make it feel impossible to find anything to be grateful for.
Even on those hard days, I have learned that gratitude can be quiet. It shows up in a steady breath, a pause to notice my body, or simply the fact that I am still here, still trying, still moving through it. It is not about pretending everything is okay. It is about honoring what is real, leaning into who I am, and recognizing that each moment, even the tough ones, holds something worth acknowledging.
Practicing stillness, even for a few breaths, reminds me to meet myself where I am, not where I wish I could be. Gratitude in this sense is not a big feeling or a milestone. It is a practice, a daily choice, and a way to show up fully for myself.
