With the recent ICE activity in Durham, many in our community are feeling fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion. Over the past few days, we’ve also seen powerful examples of people coming together—checking in on one another, sharing resources, and showing up with love. We are proud of the Durham community for holding each other through moments like this.
On November 16th, we gathered at Bragtown Baptist Church to speak about hope—what it means, what it looks like, and how it lives in us. Together, we named hope as unity, mercy, peace, salvation, safety, and the promise of tomorrow.
In light of what our city is experiencing, these conversations hit differently. Hope becomes more than a feeling—it becomes a form of resistance. A reminder that our people deserve safety, belonging, and dignity. We see you, we stand with you, and we remain committed to creating spaces of protection and care.
Our community’s hope is not fragile. It is shared, held, and strengthened by all of us—especially now. 🦋
