We’re grateful to be part of the 2026 North Carolina Leadership Forum, a statewide group of leaders working across sectors to explore how NC can best respond to a changing healthcare landscape.

El Futuro’s participation reflects our commitment to ensuring that all communities are represented in the spaces where healthcare policy, strategy, and systems are shaped.

Our work doesn’t just happen in clinics—it also happens in rooms where decisions are made. Being at these tables helps ensure that community-centered mental health care is part of North Carolina’s future.

"2025 reminded us why El Futuro exists..."

These are the first words of our Executive Director's Message to the community in our recently published 2025 Annual Report. Dr. Smith ("Luke" as he's known to most) goes on to address the uncertainty and challenges we all faced, as well as the flexibility and compassion we all practiced.

Meet our Client Care & Community Engagement team 🌱 Each person on this team carries deep strengths, lived wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to our community. Together, they go upstream—offering psychoeducation, early intervention, stigma reduction, and community empowerment—while helping reshape how mental health is understood and supported.

From case managers and substance use counselors to community mental health workers, peer support specialists, youth and ADHD therapists, community educators, and our therapeutic green space team—this is a mighty workforce.

Every day, they plant seeds that grow into connection, healing, and hope, cultivating a stronger, healthier community.

🌱 A new chapter, grounded in collaboration.
The Immigrant Mental Health Solidarity Network (IMHSN) continues to grow as a space for shared learning, accountability, and collective action across North Carolina.

With NC Counts Coalition stepping into the role of anchor organization, IMHSN is poised to deepen statewide collaboration while staying rooted in what matters most: immigrant leadership, lived experience, and community-defined solutions.

Together, network members will build on the strong foundation already in place—strengthening mental health systems, advancing equity, and supporting the well-being of immigrant and refugee communities across our state.

We’re grateful for the partnerships that brought us here and inspired by the work ahead. 💚
