Sometimes we all can use a little help on life’s journey--when things seem dark, when we feel like we are drowning in emotions, challenges, or thoughts, or when we just need someone to help bring things into focus as we set a course toward achieving our goals. Therapy is not having someone with all the right answers tell you what to do or doing things to you; it is having a professional guide to draw out your goals and strengths, to breathe hope into difficult times, and to assist with perspective and skills. I am excited to share this opportunity to explore and to engage in therapy with me FOR FREE via the Art Therapy Institute. Don’t worry--you do not need to be an artist; we will use whatever works best for you. I offer psychotherapy to individuals experiencing a variety of challenges and/or desiring to undertake a process of exploration. Often when people think about therapy, they do so with the story of “what’s wrong with me.” My perspective, however, is that “you are not the problem; the problem is the problem.” So, although I am interested in walking alongside you as you tackle the things that are getting in the way of having the life you desire, I bring a slightly different approach--one that focuses on alternative versions of our personal stories, writing the future we hope to have, thinking through the roles we perform, and finding your strengths and what works and building upon them. I do not believe that any one approach works for every problem and every person any more than we could use a single tool to make every home or auto repair. We will work together to identify the right tools to do the work at hand.
