Yesterday was PAWS-itively amazing! 🐾💙

Team members and visitors enjoyed taking a moment to meet some adorable, adoptable animals at our outdoor pop-up event supporting The Animal Protection Society of Durham. There were plenty of smiles, wagging tails, and maybe even a few forever homes found.

We are honored to serve as an adoption pop-up site as part of the DRH50 Acts of Community Impact, highlighting our shared commitment to compassion, community partnership, and service.

Never leave lit candles unattended. Place them on stable surfaces and at least 12 inches away from anything flammable. The candles should be out before you leave the room. Battery-operated flameless candles can be a safer option, although these can contain *button batteries (see below).

For new bikes, scooters and skateboards, don’t forget to give a new helmet too.

Watch out for toys, greeting cards and decorations with button batteries, which can look like candy to young children.

Fi****ms safety: Before visiting others, ask if there is a gun in the house and how/ where it is stored. If you own a gun, make sure it is stored safely (locked and unloaded) before inviting children into your home.

Medication safety: When visiting other’s homes, medications may not be put up or secured. If medications are out or in pill organizers, they are easily accessible. Additionally, many medications look like candies and can be easily confused by young children. Make sure medications our safely put away and secured around children.

Caring in every layer! Throughout this month, team members from across Duke Regional Hospital showed incredible generosity and heart through our Holiday Winter Coat Drive!

Together, we collected 131 gently used or new coats for Open Table Ministry, Inc., helping support our unsheltered adult neighbors. We also gathered 55 coats for the WRAL TV Coats for Children program, along with scarves, hats, gloves, and socks to help keep children warm this winter.

We appreciate the opportunity to partner together and reflects the true spirit of the holidays—bringing comfort, care, and hope to our community. 💙 🧥 🧤 🧢
