AAP President Dr. Susan J. Kressly responds to the recent changes on the CDC’s website - “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website has been changed to promote false information suggesting vaccines cause autism. Since 1998, independent researchers across seven countries have conducted more than 40 high-quality studies involving over 5.6 million people. The conclusion is clear and unambiguous: There’s no link between vaccines and autism. Anyone repeating this harmful myth is misinformed or intentionally trying to mislead parents.

We call on the CDC to stop wasting government resources to amplify false claims that sow doubt in one of the best tools we have to keep children healthy and thriving: routine immunizations. The American Academy of Pediatrics stands with members of the autism community who have asked for support in stopping this rumor from spreading any further."

We are busy getting ready for our drive through flu vaccine clinic tomorrow morning at our north Durham office! It will be from 8-11am, reminder of our traffic flow is below. Weather permitting, we plan to stay outdoors but may shift indoors if necessary. See you then!

We hope you all had a nice summer!
Back to school and the fall season means flu season will be upon us soon though and Regional Pediatrics will start offering influenza vaccine next week in the office. We will also have two Saturday morning drive-through flu vaccine clinics at our north Durham office (4022 Freedom Lake Drive, Durham 27704) in the front parking lot:
September 27 and October 25 8:30-11:30am

You can call either office: 919-477-2202 (north Durham) or 919-544-2049 (Sutton Station) to schedule.
If this is the first time your child is receiving flu vaccine, it is recommended to receive a booster shot 4+ weeks later in order to be effective.

We do not have information about COVID vaccine availability at this time. If it can be obtained through Duke, we will offer that as well.

Update on our north Durham office renovations: great news, we are on schedule and halfway done!
Big change to let you all know about though- starting tomorrow we are moving into the second phase which means the patient entrance will temporarily be at the back of the clinic. We are excited to open up the newly renovated areas and appreciate your patience while we try to finish this summer.

We are excited to be starting our long awaited renovations at our north Durham office today! Unfortunately this will reduce capacity at our Freedom Lake office by ~40% for the next 3 months. But our Sutton Station office has the space to accommodate the extra pediatricians, staff and patients so we will be scheduling more appointments there. We apologize for any inconvenience this summer because of the construction.

We hope everyone is staying safe today as Hurricane Helene is passing through. Our first Fall 2024 influenza vaccine clinic is tomorrow morning, Saturday September 28th from 8:30-11am at our north Durham office! Same traffic flow as in previous years. We will also have Moderna COVID vaccines (6 months-11 years old) available too. Please call either of our offices (919-477-2202 or 919-544-2049) if you have any questions.
