As the Black Therapist Mixer approaches, I’ve been reflecting on why I started these link-ups. I remember attending a networking event for therapists and realizing I was one of only a handful of Black therapists in the room. When someone asked where I worked and I said, “In private practice,” I was met with disbelief.. almost as if the idea of a Black therapist running their own practice was unimaginable.

That moment inspired me to create the Let’s Link Black Therapist Mixer. I wanted to create the space I wished existed; one with no code-switching, no microaggressions, and no disbelief that a Black therapist could run their own practice. Just connection, community, and real conversation.
