🌟 We’re kicking off November with IOBT’s first-ever Plank-A-Thon! 🌟

What’s a Plank-A-Thon?
It’s part fundraiser, part friendly plank-off! 💪 Clients can donate to make their favorite instructor(s) hold a plank for longer — $1 adds 5 seconds to their total time.

Our brave instructors will hold their final planks in-studio the week of Nov 30–Dec 6. Can’t make it? Don’t worry — we’ll be filming the fun 😉

All proceeds support Families Moving Forward, a Durham-based nonprofit helping families in the crisis of homelessness find their way home.

How to donate:
💵 $1 = +5 seconds to your instructor’s plank
💰 Drop cash or checks in your instructor’s cup at IOBT
✍️ Checks payable to Families Moving Forward
📱 Venmo -bodytherapies and include your instructor’s name in the description

About Families Moving Forward:
They provide temporary housing, case management, life skills education, and community connections to help parents and children thrive in stable homes. We’re extra proud that IOBT Pilates teacher trainee Dana Reynolds serves on their board of directors 💜

We love hearing how your Pilates practice supports all the activities you enjoy—whether that’s hiking, dancing, gardening, or chasing little ones around. It’s all about moving well, for life. 💚

Book your session today… and don’t be surprised if one of our owners is dressed like a frog 🐸

You may have noticed the studio’s had a little makeover lately ✨ What you might not know is that IOBT co-owner, Deborah Matthews, isn’t just the queen of Pilates—she’s also a talented artist! 🎨

The beautiful mural in our cubby room was hand-painted by Deborah over the course of one weekend (and who knows—it might find its way onto a few more walls when she needs a creative break!).

We love the life and color it brings to the space, and we hope it makes you smile every time you walk in. Don’t forget to tag us in your mural or mirror-pic selfies—bonus points if you’re showing off a Pilates move on the bench! 💜

It’s time for another Pilates Teacher Trainee spotlight, and today, we’re shining the spotlight on Jasmyne !

Jasmyne has been an active girlie for about ten years, and began her Pilates journey as part of a women’s group/mom’s group. She was practicing mat Pilates at home during the pandemic, and got inspired. She then connected with her sister, Jessika , and the pair started practicing Pilates together virtually, long distance.

Jasmyne explained, “My goal is to create space for mothers to help them feel strong and confident in their bodies. The Pilates world opens up strength in your mind and body. It’s good for helping people balance the mind, body, and soul.”

She’s excited to provide an outlet, resources, and knowledge, for women to feel balanced – mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. And we’re so thrilled to help facilitate her goals!

Jasmyne is now seeking practice clients! Please email Kim at info@Insideoutbodytherapies.com if you are interested!

If you’ve been following along, you know that we’ve been spotlighting our Pilates Teacher Trainees! It’s been such a joy to help y’all get to know these incredible individuals!

Today we’re featuring Tammie! Here’s what she said about her Pilates teaching journey:

“First things first: I love Pilates!!! It’s by far the best thing I’ve ever done for myself and the gift that keeps on giving. I started Pilates in January of 2022. I saw a picture of a friend of mine doing an inversion on the Cadillac, and I was mesmerized. I thought, “I want to do that!” I started taking classes and loved it from the very beginning.”

Q: What elements of Pilates do you find the most interesting/attractive/challenging?

A: My interest and excitement have only grown with time. I am a dancer and have danced my whole life. For many dancers, Pilates is a natural addition. Pilates is similar to dance in many ways – there’s fluidity of movement, choreography, control, and mindfulness that helps with stress relief, flexibility, strength, and balance. IMHO, it’s the closest thing there is to a fountain of youth. The funny thing is that it’s also super challenging. On the outside, it can look like you are barely moving, and yet, you might be shaking with effort and using your entire body. Crazy!!

Q: As you embark on your Pilates teaching journey, what are you excited about? What do you want your future clients to know about working with you?

A: My Pilates teaching journey has been wonderful. I started instructor training for Pilates because I wanted to know everything I could about it, and I have gotten so much more out of it than I thought possible. I’m excited to delve deeper and deeper into this work for my clients and for myself. I want my future clients to know I am all in. I believe in the power of the work and the transformations that are inevitable if you stick with it, and I am here to help my clients reach their goals!

Want to stay strong, mobile, and confident in your body as you move through the next phases of life?

Our virtual Sculpting with Pilates class is designed to help you:

💪 Build strength for everyday movements like getting up and down from the floor with ease

🦴 Strengthen bones and muscles to support long-term health

🌀 Maintain mobility and balance to help prevent falls and be able to do fun things with your friends and family

🌟 Age gracefully while feeling powerful in your body

This class blends the precision of Pilates with safe, effective weight training exercises so you can feel strong, capable, and supported without the risk of injury.

All you need to practice at home is 2-3 options for weights (between 2-15 pounds depending on your fitness level) and a mat.

Beyond adding ease to your routine and drastically shortening your commute to class, our virtual classes come with one other major perk! All registrants receive a video recording of each virtual class that is available to replay for the following week! This means you have lots of flexibility to fit your workout in when it is convenient for you, plus the opportunity to try exercises again to deepen your understanding!
