The Center for Health Policy & Inequalities Research is an instigator and facilitator of a broad range of health policy and health disparities research that address policy relevant issues. Activities focus on population based health research, health systems research, and intervention and evaluation research. The Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research (CHPIR) fosters an interdisciplinary collaborative investigative environment that also seeks to educate Duke students by providing experiences in working with our research teams and through individual mentorship. We are a part of the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI), joining them in their work to reduce health disparities. Together we recognize that local is global when dealing with health inequalities. So, in that spirit CHPIR enhances DGHI’s partnerships, research and impact.

Applications for one of CHPIR’s favorite leadership programs, the Hart Fellowship Program (HFP), are due at the end of the week!

HFP offers recent Duke graduates ten-month fellowships with community-based organizations that are facing complex social, political and humanitarian problems. This capstone experience helps fellows develop their own vision for ethical leadership as they move into professional life. Since its inception in 1995, 107 Hart Fellows have served community partner organizations in 40 countries across six continents. Learn more about how to apply at https://bit.Ly/Apply2Hart or contact Ana Ramirez (ana.ramirez@duke.edu) with any questions!

03/31/2021

On March 31st, we celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility to recognize and share support for our transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming students and colleagues. Transgender Day of Visibility was founded in 2009 by visionary transgender activist Rachel Crandall.

We invite transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary folks and their allies to come together for an open space for sharing stories of joy, resistance, gratitude, and solidarity. Bring your poetry, your art, or just yourself to celebrate our beauty, our love, and the gifts we bring to the world. At this time, the Trans Day of Visibility Love Letter to Trans Folks will be revealed.
