We’re so excited to share something special with our community. Emerald Doulas is partnering with Heart in Hands Photography for a Birthing While Black Fundraiser Photography Day, and we would love for you to be part of it. This is a chance to get beautiful photos while also supporting a deeply meaningful cause. The Birthing While Black Fund helps expand access to postpartum doula care for Black birthing people in our community, offering compassionate and culturally aligned support for those who need it.
Your session can be anything you want it to be, pregnancy, parenthood, or simply a chance to document your family as you are right now. The timing is perfect for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Non-Binary Parents Day gifts!
Recommended donation is $100, with a pay scale starting at $50+ so more families can participate. But your donations can be even more if you feel led to contribute to this amazing cause.
Sessions will be held at Shadowbox Studio in Durham, NC on April 4th
Spots are limited, so grab yours soon.

Let’s show up for our community in a beautiful way.
We see so many beautiful images of family, food, & home decor over the holidays. Now it's time to share the real nitty gritty, & help each of us feel a little better knowing we're not alone in the mess! What didn't go exactly according to plan? Kiddo meltdowns? Food fiascos? Naughty pets? I want to see (or hear about) it all so we can hopefully find a little humor in it. Share in comments!

I thought I would be able to thank everyone individually at some point, & maybe I will, but y'all have blessed me so much & on so many platforms 😂 I'm not sure it'll happen. Please know that I've read every single message & appreciate every thought, prayer, & gift.

Emerald Doulas was born out of the need to create a cohesive, personalized, inclusive community for new and expectant families in and around Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, NC and surrounding Triangle cities.
Combining their years of experience supporting and nurturing new parents and their newborns, owners Ashley Collins & Melanie Patrick are proud to offer the area’s most comprehensive and professional birth and postpartum support business.
Since our opening in 2016, we’ve supported over 400 local families through doula services, infant feeding guidance, our evidence-based classes, and network of community support groups.
Why Emerald Doulas?
Emeralds are a precious gemstone (the State Gem of North Carolina, in fact), which are long thought to promote love and hope, and quiet an anxious or troubled mind. Emeralds can be used to bridge the hearts of two people together and are also said to bring wisdom and reason to their wearers.
Like our namesake, our gentle guidance and nurturing eases the minds of new parents, who are faced with many decisions before, during, and after birth. Emerald Doulas strive to be a collaborative part of your birth and postpartum care, never replacing your partner or family; but rather, adding an addition level of care for you when you need it the most.
We simplify and enhance the lives of new parents, whether this is your first or your fifth new baby. Because we offer extensive support options for pregnancy through the first years, all under one business and with one phone call, your new family can rely on our web of comprehensive and professional support. It's unlike anything else offered in the Triangle, and it's so much more than doula support, alone. Really.
Emerald Doulas clients feel cared for, valued, heard, and most importantly, bonded as a family, as you navigate through the tender moments of early parenthood.
