🎉 Happy Birthday to Pastor Jaylen Allen! 🎉

Today we celebrate one of our own, a true blessing to our funeral home family and to the community we serve. Pastor Jaylen is a dedicated servant after God’s own heart, always willing to step in, stand in the gap, and pour compassion into every family he encounters. His heart for people, steady presence, and spirit of service make him an invaluable asset to our team.

Pastor Jaylen was born on February 29, which means he only gets a “real” birthday every four years! 😄 So while the rest of us are out here aging annually, Jaylen is aging on God’s deluxe, extended warranty plan. 👦🏽👴🏾

🎉 GRAND ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎉

We are excited to share a major milestone for our firm and our community!

H.D. Weaver Memorial Chapel has officially surrendered its chapel license and is now fully licensed as a funeral establishment by the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service.

Our funeral establishment license was officially issued on February 15, 2026, which means we are now a full-service funeral home and may advertise and operate as such.

This achievement represents growth, perseverance, and our unwavering commitment to serve families with excellence, dignity, and compassion. We are proud to stand as Durham, North Carolina’s newest funeral home, ready to meet the needs of our community with trusted, professional care.

THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us on this journey. We look forward to serving Durham and surrounding communities for generations to come.

At the request of the family of Mr. Wilbert “Shake” Edwards, there will no longer be a one-hour visitation. They have decided to start the service at 12:15pm. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Wilbert “Shake” Edwards.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Edwards family during this difficult time. During this time of loss, we pray that God’s comforting presence surrounds you, offering peace that surpasses all understanding and strength for the days ahead.

Services for Mr. Edwards will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at H.D. Weaver Memorial Chapel (124 E. Edgewood Dr. Durham, NC 27704). Visitation will be held from 12pm-1pm and service will begin at 1pm. Interment will follow at Glennview Memorial Park.

With heartfelt sorrow, we share the passing of Mrs. Virginia Mitchell Lunsford, 93, of Durham, NC. Mrs. Lunsford entered into eternal rest on January 30, 2026.

We extend our sincere condolences to her family as they walk through this season of loss. May they find peace in the promise of God’s comfort and strength, and may the memories of her life bring light to the days ahead.

Chris Weaver is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer who has served families with compassion from a young age. He was reared by his late father, Mr. Harry D. Weaver Sr., whose influence helped shape Chris’ lifelong calling to funeral service.

A Durham native, Chris is a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Georgia and has been licensed in North Carolina since 2017.

Known for his calm demeanor and steady presence, he brings comfort and reassurance to families during some of life’s most difficult moments. Chris is honored to serve and support families throughout his community with compassion and care.

Though he is behind the scenes most of the time, we are grateful for his hardwork and dedication.

Celebrating the life and legacy of Thorne Rogers. It was truly an honor to serve the Rogers family during a beautiful celebration of life that featured a classic horse and carriage processional. The elegance and meaning of this tribute spoke volumes.
