April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month!

Parkinson’s disease affects more than movement—it can also impact communication, balance, cognition, and even how the brain processes sound.

Many people living with Parkinson’s experience difficulty understanding speech, especially in noisy environments. Sometimes patients say, “I can hear people talking, but I can’t make out the words.” Hearing changes like these can make everyday conversations more frustrating and isolating.

During Parkinson’s Awareness Month, we want to remind our community that hearing evaluations can help identify communication challenges and guide solutions that make conversations easier.
