These two ultra-trail athletes, Darrin Mann ( .darrin ) & Bhushan Suresh ( ) have put in some incredible adventures in the last two months: 1) big country loops through Butner, Bahama, Hillsborough, Silk Hope, & Bynum, & 2) aerobic trail runs with extended instances of quality through Jordan Game Lands, Lower Haw River, & just today, Horton Grove Nature Preserve.

There have been conversations ranging from existentialism, to partnership, to pooping & everything in between. Mirroring the training progression was an expanding sense of place, a deepening sense of friendship and camaraderie amongst thieves, & of course, a totally goofy and arbitrary nicking of names 🤓.

Darrin has reached his taper for the Uwharrie 40 👏🏻.

Bhushan has a couple more weeks of voluntary suffering before tapering for Black Canyon 100k 🕺.

We were able to lurch out of our introvert-favoring equilibriums, have fun, train in a useful way for all fitness-levels, all while cultivating a kind and safe culture.

Congratulations Darrin & Bhushan (they need not know our nicknames 🤣) for not just the physiological development, but for have such a positive impact on the people around, even when you were in the pain cave. Inspiring.

The Endurance Collective is happy to announce we are continuing our sponsorship of the Raleigh Distance Project as the exclusive bodywork provider for the 2023 race season.

RDP is an elite women's running team training together to reach their goals and to use the transformative sport of running as a means of community-building for all people. In 2022, RDP athletes won marathons, set personal and course records, and competed at distances from the 1500 through the marathon (even some trail races). This year the team has eyes on qualifying for Olympic Trials and US Championship races, and continuing to build relationships within the Triangle endurance community.

We love working with RDP because they have all seen the impact of how a positive, inclusive, and enthusiastic mindset can enhance performance. They strive to instill the secret behind their successful running careers in all local runners: joy!
This year's team is represented by:
Lauren Archer
Caity Ashley
Nikki Long
Tavyn Lovitt
Kimberly Maloney
Gabi Sejourne
Emma Spencer
Laura Huning

We are looking forward to a successful season working together!

The EC team is stoked to announce our sponsorship of professional sprinter and Canadian Olympic 4x400m team member, for the 2023 season.

Maddy Price's Olympic dream became a reality in Tokyo, 2021. Her road to Tokyo was filled with uncertainty, as she dealt with coming back from foot surgery, the global pandemic shifting the timeline, and losing her dad to cancer right after missing the 2016 Rio Olympic team. Despite the odds, she made the Canadian 4x400m Olympic team and went on to run her fastest split ever in the final, helping lead her team to a 4th-place finish. Far more important than the accomplishment of becoming an Olympian and running professionally is how she approached the process. With her family as inspiration, Maddy has always prioritized her relationships, staying present, and giving her best to everything she does. Maddy is a mentor to younger girls in sport, giving them guidance on their own journies through the Voice in Sport Platform. She is a speaker for corporations and schools and is a volunteer assistant coach for the Duke Track and Field Team.

Maddy’s running highlights include
· Tokyo 2021 Canadian Olympian - 4th place Women's 4x400m Relay
· 2019 World Championships Finalist and 2019 World Relays 4th place Women's 4x400m Relay
· Captain, Record Breaker, and Multiple-Time All American for Duke University

She is stoked to be a part of the Endurance Collective Team (even if her event is only 49 to 52 seconds long hahaha) .... add what you think here about our values aligning ... YAY

Athletes of the Collective: Harrison McMillan,

Harrison is a trail runner and competitive Spartan Obstacle Course Race (OCR) athlete.
Harrison logs most of his trail miles in Durham (NC), down along the Eno River. He is drawn to singletrack running because it keeps him on his toes; if sighting or proprioception is lost, then oncoming rocks or roots are bound to take him out. It keeps him engaged. “I'll run Al Buehler,” a crushed-gravel, doubletrack trail that circumnavigates Duke University’s Golf Course, “but that's as tame as I get. For me it's about keeping my mind busy and away from distractions that are detrimental to my mental health and physical well-being.”
Spartan racing has given Harrison a strong sense of direction and purpose within his training and racing. Competing at the top of his age group, Harrison is matched against people who train as hard—if not harder—than he does. Therefore, cultivating and maintaining a convincing “Why” during hard training sessions is essential. “Spartan…racing highlights my grit and determination to compete in a way [to which] not everyone is accustom[ed].”
Harrison came to be an Athlete of the Collective in 2020 when he got serious about Spartan racing. Realizing the benefits of muscle recovery and sports massage, he started booking sessions with Endurance Collective bodywork specialists Ben and Matt.
With three kids and a wife, Harrison’s training revolves around his family life. “I try to get 3 to 4 runs in a week, averaging 4 to 7 miles per run. In addition to running I do strength training twice a week with a trainer.”
In April, Harrison competed in the Charlotte Spartan Sprint and finished 1st in the open-heat division out of 868 people. 🤯
What’s next for Harrison? This weekend, he has the South Carolina Spartan Super. In August, he has the West Virginia Spartan Trifecta. In October, it’s another drive north to the Virginia Spartan Sprint and Super. And lastly, Harrison will compete in a Spartan event in Charlotte in November (full stop). 🦾
What a fun and exciting calendar ahead! Best wishes Harrison through the second half of your racing season!

One of the primary concerns for athletes returning to training and competition after COVID is how their body will react to training stress. Check out the link in our bio for some advice on return to play protocols post COVID-19 infection.

7 years ago the idea for the Endurance Collective was hatched out of frustration about the lack of communication between the sports medicine and athlete community. One of our focuses at EC is to share knowledge with our athletes. Today we are opening the “Endurance Collected” library at EC. This will be a growing collection of literature about training, recovery, nutrition, self care, peri and menopausal athletes and any other topic we might be interested in. Please feel free to borrow from or add to our collection.
