Many children have lost access to education in light of the refugee crisis. Either their education was disrupted or, for some young children, they were never able to start. As more than half of the country’s governors say that their states will not be accepting Syrian refugees in light of the recent escalated terror attacks occurring at a global level, states that are still doing so are making positive strides for refugees in education.

For many people, it put a face to the sufferings of war torn Syria that previously had been missing. After the fall of communist Romania, the rest of the world was shocked to see the awful conditions many orphans were living in. Though the children may have survived the notorious orphanages of the 80s, today many of the survivors live in the filthy sewers of Romania, addicted to drugs.
