At The Gregory Center, we believe that everyone deserves a voice — and that communication should never be limited by ability. AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) supports individuals in expressing themselves, building connections, and increasing independence.

Our team is committed to ensuring every child has access to functional communication. We are so fortunate to collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) to learn and implement best practices, helping our clients use AAC systems effectively while continuing to build natural language and social skills.

October is AAC Awareness Month! 💬✨

We’re proud to support individuals who communicate in many different ways. AAC—Augmentative and Alternative Communication—includes everything from gestures and picture symbols to speech-generating devices and communication apps. For many of our clients, AAC is not just a tool—it’s a voice, a bridge to connection, and a pathway to independence.

This month, we celebrate:

🌟 All forms of communication—high-tech and low-tech

🌟The right of every individual to be heard

🌟The families, therapists, teachers, and caregivers who support AAC users

🌟The incredible progress our clients make when given access and opportunity

Communication is not one-size-fits-all. Everyone deserves a way to express their needs, thoughts, and personality—and AAC makes that possible.

This summer was full of growth and exciting changes here at The Gregory Center! Several of our amazing team members have stepped into new roles, and we couldn’t be more proud of the dedication, leadership, and passion they bring to our workplaces every single day. 💙 Please join us in congratulating and celebrating the following individuals on their new titles:

✨Brianna Ruby (Hamlin): Registered Behavior Technician

✨Brianna Walker (Hamlin): Registered Behavior Technician

✨Elizabeth June (Hamlin): Licensed Behavior Specialist

Brianna and Brianna, like all of our BHTs, completed their 40 hour RBT training course upon hire. This summer, they sat for and passed their RBT examinations, earning the credential offered by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.

Elizabeth received her masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis this summer, and her work experience and specialized coursework qualified her to apply for her state licensure with the PA Board of Medicine which was approved this summer. She is now officially a Licensed Behavior Specialist in the state of Pennsylvania!

We are so proud of these three and SO excited for the months to come to recognize so many of our staff who are working on completing coursework for both undergraduate and graduate degrees to further their professional careers! Here’s to a great year ahead as we continue to grow together!! 🥳🌸
