Last organized event I completed was Gravel Worlds 50k on August 21, 2021.

The next one. . . 25 mile Fun Ride at Unbound Gravel. Which should be interesting after a 5 year sabbatical and two days of the Expo. 🫠

If I am being honest, I am nervous. I have riden only a teeny, tiny bit of road miles in those 5 years and ZERO gravel. Plus. . . I am 5 yrs older, slightly heavier - though working on that. Acquired a diagnosis and take meds to stave off pop up full fledged panic attacks. I also often mistake right for left. I am unsure how to accomidate my reading glasses in order to see my Garmin or how many sets of reading glasses I will need to take. Then of course, what to ride - Blue Fargo or the Fatboy.

Anyway. . . The point of this post is to announce: I am putting on the Pink Gravel Jersey to ride MY FIRST organized gravel bike ride in 5 years!

This is kinda a big thing for me. Wish me luck!

Just want to say a quick thank you to all that put up with all the posts, texts and such from me and my friends yesterday.

We will not know the results of our efforts until Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 10am when we attend the "Results Show." It will be broadcasted on one of the KVOE stations. Keep you posted on that. The previous two years we raised the following on the Greater Emporia Area Match Day:

2024: $7,034.88
2023: $9,586.06

After this day, I always feel I didn't do enough. This year, I missed sending out emails. And I am kicking myself. I had my list printed, but with everything going on, I just did not get it done. So I am very grateful for what John, Todd and Shelby did for Pink Gravel. I really could ask for a better hobby - Gravel Cycling - you not only get some fresh air, you get some pretty awesome friends!

So REGARDLESS of what that number for 2025 turns out to be, THANK YOU! Thank everyone that donated yesterday, the day before the month before and previous years. Thanks to everyone that has liked, loved and shared our posts. Thanks to everyone that wears a Pink Gravel Jersey or a Pink Gravel shirt or tank. Pink Gravel values your support more than you know. Like the gravel events we work check points for. . . we too are grass roots. Jon and I, with our kids and a few friends that pop in to help out, are IT. We make up PINK GRAVEL. There are some that believe we are a large organization or club that ride events. And I think that is awesome because that just shows what an impact these Pink Jerseys and t-shirts are making. So thank you PINK GRAVEL JERSEY RIDERS! Specifically, my ladies Trisha, Tayla, Rebecca, . . . you started the trend early for sure.

Cross your fingers for more than the last year, but happy for anything of course!

Today is ECF MATCH DAY!

And I am excited to report that on these three friends raised $1535 in roughly 36 hours during their ride from Montauk to Manhattan! It only took 16 friends to donate to raise that amount! That does include one giving an incentive, but the 15 combined out gave the one. This will be taken to ECF today for Match Days 🩷.

This is what I am hoping will continue to happen though today! Please share the link in the comments and help us grow our fund.

Last month - October- the Pink Gravel Fund gave out two grants to individuals that were diagnosed with breast cancer this past summer. I personally am working on another now. The stories of these individuals strike a cord with me and rekindle my own emotions as a breast cancer survivor.

Your donations to the Pink Gravel Fund are used exclusively toward the grants Jon and I give to breast cancer patients and survivors working to get back to the groove of this thing called life. That may be in the form of a guilt free dinner out with their support crew - aka family and friends - or it may be in the form of getting a nagging bill paid - or maybe, just maybe they have just rang that bell from their last treatment and want to register for the event in June as a goal to get back to being active ;) The Pink Gravel Fund grant is available for all of these examples and more.

This is something I would have personally applied for if it had existed in 2020. After being diagnosed in October of 2019, completing chemo and radiation treatments in 2020, I would have applied for this grant with no hesitations! The hardest part would have been whether to use it toward something that my family could benefit from as well or to bring comfort to myself.
