In honor of American Heart Month, here are 3 tips for maintaining a healthy heart 👇
🍎 Eat a Heart-Healthy Diet: Focus on a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Reduce your intake of saturated fats, trans fats, sodium, and added sugars. Incorporate foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts, which can contribute to heart health.
🏃♂️Stay Physically Active: Engage in regular physical activity to keep your heart strong. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week. Activities like brisk walking, jogging, swimming, or cycling can help maintain a healthy weight, lower blood pressure, and improve overall cardiovascular fitness.
🧘♀️ Manage Stress: Chronic stress can negatively impact your heart health. Find healthy ways to cope with stress, such as practicing mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, yoga, or spending time on activities you enjoy. Adequate sleep is also crucial for heart health, so ensure you get 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.
