Did you know that winter is when flu and COVID hit hardest? ❄️🤧
That’s why the AAP strongly recommends flu and COVID vaccines for everyone 6 months and older — they’re safe, effective, and one of the best tools we have to prevent serious illness in kids. 💉💙

A few reminders for parents:
✔️ Kids can get both vaccines at the same visit
✔️ Vaccines help protect babies who are too young to be fully vaccinated
✔️ Children with asthma, prematurity, or chronic conditions are especially vulnerable
✔️ Even healthy kids can become very sick from flu or COVID

Walk in ANY time during normal business hrs!

If you are traveling by air this week, please be sure to secure your child in a car seat approved by the FAA for use on airplanes. Children are not secure on laps in an airplane any more than they are in a car. Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving week!

Bulky winter coats may keep kids warm outside—but they can make car seats dangerous. The AAP warns that puffy coats create extra space under the harness, which can cause it to be too loose in a crash.

Here’s how to keep your child safe AND warm this winter:

🧥 No bulky coats in the car seat
Harness straps must lie flat and snug against your child’s chest. Puffy coats compress in a crash and increase injury risk.

🛡️ Do the pinch test
After buckling, try to pinch the strap at the shoulder. If you can pinch extra material, it’s too loose.

🌡️ Warm alternatives recommended by the AAP:
• Put the coat on after buckling
• Use a blanket over the harness
• Dress kids in thin, warm layers
• Use a car seat–safe poncho or fleece jacket
• Warm the car in advance when possible

🧊 Rear-facing is safest
Keep kids rear-facing as long as possible per your seat’s height/weight limits.

Keeping little ones warm shouldn’t come at the cost of safety. A properly fitted harness always comes first. 💙

November is RSV Awareness Month!

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is one of the most common causes of colds and breathing illness in infants and young children. Most kids will get RSV at least once by age 2, but symptoms can sometimes become serious—especially for babies under 6 months.

RSV typically peaks between October–March, and symptoms often worsen on days 3–5 before improving.

If your little one is working hard to breathe, has fewer wet diapers, or seems unusually sleepy—please contact the office. Early evaluation can make all the difference. 💙
