The Discovery of a Mysterious Super Power: Part 3 of 5 – Unwinding Body Memory
What was revealed during my body memory training and hundreds of unwindings is that the release of body memory is natural and will occur spontaneously when a person surrenders enough control over their body. The surrendering of control usually occurs gradually, as the habit to control and suppress our body and feelings is strong. As young children, we were much more open to expressing what we feel. As adults, that fluidity becomes less and less. However, with practice we remember how to let-go. When control is surrendered enough, an innate self-healing ability takes over that spontaneously orchestrates the release of suppressed memory, including the energy from past injuries, traumas, surgeries and stressful events. This bio-energetic process of transformation is referred to as Unwinding.

When the body unwinds it can shake, twitch, spasm or contract. It may also assume significant positions of past injuries or trauma. Emotions and subconscious memories from painful events can arise to conscious awareness where they are able to be felt, realized and released. Sounds or words that were previously unspoken can also surface to be vocalized and released. The outcome of Unwinding is a comprehensive, multi-dimensional release of suppressed energy.

My unwindings revealed a lot of suppressed grief from childhood and a major car accident at age five that fractured my right leg – the one that clotted at age 21. Amazingly, the more I unwound, the more the swelling went down in my leg.
