After three different cancers in six years, Larry Walther calls the MercyOne team nothing short of extraordinary.

At 83, Larry has faced prostate, lung and esophageal cancer—each treated with radiation therapy at MercyOne. “Frankly, I think those people walk on water,” he said.

A PET scan in 2024 revealed two new cancers, and Larry underwent radiation, chemotherapy and even a complex hernia surgery. Through it all, he found strength in the care and compassion of his providers.

“They treated me better than most people would expect,” Larry said. “We shared everything except hugs and kisses.”

Larry, a military veteran and longtime member of the Patriot Guard Riders, knows the value of honor and respect—and says he felt both throughout his care journey.

“I’ve never been treated as well or felt as comfortable with the people and the treatment as I do at MercyOne.”
