Happy 5th birthday to SGW Psychological Services!
🎉🥳

SGW Psych started as a dream in the middle of COVID in 2020. Fortunately, some clients saw the potential and took a chance on a new clinic and I couldn't be more grateful. It's now a resounding and smashing success and has grown in positive ways that I never would have allowed myself to imagine. Thank you to all who have helped build this organization into the success it is! 💜💜

Psychological abuse and emotional abuse are different. Psychological abuse targets your thoughts, while emotional abuse targets your emotions. Both are real and have lasting long-term impacts. Also, you don't deserve to experience either form.

Emotional abuse is real. It can often be subtle and sometimes difficult to pick up on and/or acknowledge. It's also easy to invalidate because we believe the person who said the statements loves us or we convince ourselves we're making a bigger deal out of it than it was.

The reality is that emotional abuse has long-term aftereffects, such as impacts to self-esteem, self-trust, self-worth, mental health symptoms, etc. If you're experiencing or have experienced - you deserve better.

Suzie makes it hard to read the new Cognitive Processing Therapy manual. She’s looking for cuddles instead of wanting to learn an evidence-based method to treat PTSD.

If you have experienced trauma, please consider seeing a psychologist and/or therapist and using an evidence-based method such as to treat any lingering symptoms. CPT isn’t the only option. You could also explore methods such as Prolonged Exposure, EMDR, Sensorimotor, etc. Please know a happier and healthier you is possible.
