SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING – TAKE SHELTER NOW

Affected Area: Val Verde County and surrounding regions.
Summary:
At 8:51 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were detected along a line from northeast of Juno to west of Loma Alta and near Seminole Canyon State Park, moving east at approximately 25 mph.
Hazards:
• Winds up to 70 mph
• Penny-sized hail
• Heavy rain and frequent lightning
Expected Impacts:
• Significant tree and roof damage possible
• Mobile homes and outbuildings may sustain damage
• Power outages and debris on roadways are likely
Impacted Locations Include:
Del Rio, Laughlin AFB, Comstock, Juno, Loma Alta, Seminole Canyon State Park, Amistad Village, Cienegas Terrace, Carta Valley, and nearby communities around Lake Amistad.
Safety Instructions:
• Take shelter immediately in an interior room on the
lowest floor of a sturdy building.
• Stay indoors and away from windows.
• Avoid water activities—lightning can strike up to 15 miles from the storm.
• Do NOT drive through flooded roads—turn around, don’t drown.
• Remain alert for additional warnings or flash flood alerts.
