High-quality, compassionate care is our priority at Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center. We appreciate the kind words from recent patient BettyJo Lascurain:
"Griselda is a nurse on the rehabilitation floorβ¦My doctor comes in at different times, but before Griselda leaves for the day, she makes sure I'm ready to talk with him. Having Griselda as my nurse takes so much stress off of me because I know she is looking at my current and future care every day. It's nice to have one less thing to worry about during your rehabilitation stay.
All of my meals come to me hot and ready with everything I requested. The only way that happens consistently every day is through excellent communication. Lilia's first words are always asking me how I slept and how was I feeling today. She makes sure everything was fine from the day before, and then she breaks out her trusty highlighters! She goes over the meal offers suggestions and highlights, highlights & highlights! Her smile at 7 a.m. lasts till night with every meal delivered to my room. Thank you, Lilia, and the whole team in food services for caring about those you serve.
The day before yesterday, I experienced the worst breakthrough pain of my life. I was physically digging my nails into my skin, trying to relieve my pain. The nurses were Abraham and Wendy. Within seconds of hitting my call light, Abraham assessed me and went for my available medications. Wendy came in and guided me away from digging my nails into my skin.
Wendy talked me through the pain as Abraham called my physician. Medication was ordered, and the pain started to leave, and I laid back and thanked them.
To me, this is what teamwork is all about⦠It was getting the best and quickest route to making me feel better.
Thank you, Abraham & Wendy."
