Hello Focus families,
On behalf of the clinic, we just wanted to reach out, as promised, to inform you that we are continuing to provide teletherapy through the end the of April in order to follow the quarantine precautions set forth. If you previously declined virtual appointments but are having a change of heart, please call Courtney at the front desk 907.694.6002 to discuss what teletherapy might look like for you. As we explore ways to figure out our new normal, we appreciate your patience, flexibility, and optimism during this time. Stay healthy, stay safe, and as always, wash your hands. 

Quarantining can be tough. Our normal is changing and it can be hard for us and our families to adjust. As soon as we think we have adjusted a little, something changes again. But here are some quarantine tips!
1. Make a schedule! Try to still get up and ready for the day as you normally would! (This is also helpful so that we know our clothes will still fit after weeks of hanging around the house! 😅) And helpful for kiddos who are used to a schedule at school. You could even make a picture timeline!
2. Get Outside! Go on a walk around your neighborhood or hang in your backyard! But remember to social distance from everyone who is not in your household. If you go on a hike, pick a place where the trails are not overcrowded.
3. Make the internet your friend! We are!! We are offering telehealth; virtual appointments for our clinic clients! But you could use the internet to learn a new skill, go on a virtual trip, read a book, play games, or even talk to family!
4. Exercise! Your mind and your body! There are many at home workouts cycling the internet!
5. Don't forget your humor! Although, there is nothing funny about our current predicament, it is important to remain in good spirits (while at home, social distancing, staying safe and washing your hands.)

What have you used your time for during this quarantine? Share your tips/tricks, projects, funnies, or binge-watched shows!

COVID-19 UPDATE
Hello Focus Families,
At this time, the clinic has decided to close for the next couple of weeks to follow CDC recommendations (currently, this does not include ABA services). We are in the process of reaching out to all families with a temporary telehealth option during this time. All kiddo’s plans are different and catered to them, so this may look different for each kiddo. If you and your therapist decide to try telehealth, the first appointment will be a learning experience for both parties. In the initial session, you will work with the therapist to determine what telehealth might look like for your child and decide if it is a good option.

If you decide to move forward with telehealth, please see the attached letter in your email.

If you haven’t heard from a Focus admin or your therapist at this time; please give us until the end of the day to make contact. If you have not heard from us by 3:00 today, please email Courtney (cerickson@focusoutreach.org) or Felisha (fshowmaker@focusoutreach.org), or call the front desk at (907.694.6002). The front desk phone is being forwarded to a cell phone. This means that for your convenience you can still call our main line 907.694.6002, but if Focus tries to call you it will come from the following number 907.726.3664. (Just to give you a heads up, that this number is us and we are not trying to sell you something. :) )

Information changes daily; we will reassess the situation the first week of April, so please check your email for updates and feel free to continue to reach out to us (email or phone) with any questions or appointment cancellations.

Given the current CDC recommendations in response to COVID-19, our clinic has decided to remain open at this time.
Please remember, if your child currently has a fever or signs/ symptoms of coronavirus, or has presented with a fever in the last 24 hours, they should remain home. In compliance with our sick policy, we will not cancel a client from therapy due to runny nose or minor cough. Please evaluate your child and speak to your pediatrician if you have any concerns. We are understanding of cancellations due to virus related symptoms. As a reminder, we do request that you give proper notice if you do plan to cancel appointments for any reason.
We want all families to remain healthy and be aware that we have increased cleanliness procedures and are exercising proper hand washing with your child and staff before and after their appointment. Please note that all toys have been removed from the waiting room. Hand sanitizer is located in each therapy room and at the front desk for you to use upon arrival and pick up. If your therapist is running a few minutes late, please keep in mind that they are following extra sanitary precautions to keep your child healthy.
We ask that any sibling(s) accompanying your child receiving services remain in the vehicle. If you have a child(ren) who are too young to be left unattended, please call the front desk (907.694.6002) and we are more than happy to es**rt your child to and from the vehicle for their therapy session.
Thank you to the community for complying with our efforts to remain healthy and safe! We will update you when/ if additional information becomes available. Please check your email.
