We spent our afternoon assembling 911 essentials in baggies to gift those in need of extra TLC , snacks and hygiene basics including: hats, socks from Bombas, gloves, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, lotion, hand warmers, wipes, nail files, q-tips and more toiletries. Want to do something meaningful this Holiday season? Join Dr. Babymaker Burris and The Burris Family volunteering
this SUNDAY—DEC 14 from 12-4 at The Social Hub (address on the flyer).
We will be volunteering at Oliver’s Gift, a wonderful non-profit.

We will be putting together packages that include hats, mittens, snacks, water, and a handwritten card. These packages will be delivered to people in need, including the homeless and those who simply need some extra love.

Come and help stuff, or drop off supplies. They are still in need of Hats and snacks (granola bars, ramen, oatmeal, non-perishable, individually wrapped, snacks).

Let’s clear something up. There are so many myths about acupuncture that make me want to pull my hair out. So let’s go there:

Myth: “Acupuncture only works for pain.”
Truth: It can help with so much more. Hormonal imbalance, digestive issues, sleep problems - you name it, acupuncture can treat it.

Myth: “It’s only for people who believe in ‘woo-woo’ stuff.”

I know the pain of not knowing. I know the devastation that follows the brief interaction with your OBGYN who delivers the emotional torment of telling you that your life-long dream of becoming a mother may be impossible. Words like endometriosis and surgery and cysts and “hurry up” swam anxiously in my mind after he closed the cold, metal door. It was 1995, with no internet to research, no support groups, no books to read, no blogs to devour, no podcasts to embolden my knowledge. I didn’t know what IVF was at all. I felt no one understood what I was going through- I was in tremendous physical pain and mental anguish. But instead of losing hope, I pursued my dream. Instead of going to traditional medical school I chose a path no one I knew had ever taken: the path to become a holistic doctor. To learn to heal others, and God willing, myself, with my own hands, plants from this earth and teeny, tiny needles that had healed billions of others before me. I didn’t know if my years of treatment had worked, until I finally saw those two faint blue lines! Yesterday we had an incredible family day taking Senior photos of our “baby”. It was emotional and fun and I soaked in the joy. These moments weigh heavily as it goes so fast. I am so grateful to be a part of this kind, loving, young man’s life as his mother. The greatest gift I could ever receive. And they were all wrong- no IVF needed, just TCM medicine, a whole lot of faith, and 6 1/2 years of training.

It is Tony Burris’s job to keep him pain-free and moving well year after year.
