Thinking about getting your tongue pierced? It might look cool, but it can come with risks to your oral health. Piercings in the mouth can lead to chipped teeth, gum recession, and even infections if not properly cared for. The constant contact between jewelry and your teeth or gums can cause damage over time, and swelling or irritation isnโ€™t uncommon. If you already have a piercing, regular dental visits with {Doctor} and extra attention to oral hygiene are key to keeping your smile healthy. Have questions? โžก https://rwl.io/3ON3up6

Orange you glad you know how citrus fruits affect your teeth? Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and grapefruits are packed with vitamin C, but their high acidity can wear down tooth enamel over time. That enamel is your toothโ€™s protective layer, and once it starts to erode, you may notice increased sensitivity and a greater risk of cavities. Even though citrus is healthy, the acid can soften enamel temporarily, making your teeth more vulnerable, especially if you brush right after eating. Rinsing with water and waiting about 30 minutes before brushing can help protect your smile while still enjoying your favorite fruits.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Every Wednesday in October, Growing Smiles wears pink to bring awareness to this important topic.
Did you know that a mammogram is a special image that can help detect breast cancer in men and women? It is recommended that women above the age of 40 years old have a mammogram. Erie County has a special program to help those who may not be able to afford a mammogram or whose insurance copay may be too high.
Early Detection is key with all Cancers. Erie County also has free screenings for Colonoscopy as well.

Halloween is fast approaching and we know how excited our kids our becoming! Picking out the perfect costume, being with friends...and getting tasty treats! Dr. Amy and Dr. Adam believe everyone deserves a special treat, especially on Halloween! A few things that can help keep your child's mouth healthy during this time are:
1-Choose Chocolate Treats instead of Sticky Treats
2-Drink water after consuming a treat and try to brush and floss after special treats.
3-Try not to graze lots of snacks through out the day and night. Try to pair a treat with a meal or have a set time for that special treat.
4-If you are concerned about your child's mouth or something hurts, please call the office and we can help.
5-If you are interested in learning some more ideas to make Halloween a dental teaching experience for your child, check out https://rwl.io/4mQtrSt
