Spring is around the corner in Buffalo… which means allergy season is starting 🌼

But how do you know if you’re dealing with allergies or a cold?

Quick tip:
👀 Itchy or watery eyes → usually allergies
🤒 Fever or fatigue → usually a cold

Both can cause congestion and a runny nose, which is why many people confuse the two.

If your symptoms aren’t improving or your breathing feels off, our respiratory specialists can help evaluate what’s going on!

🍽️ Tip of the Week: Eat for Your Lungs

Certain vitamins help support immune function and lung health—both important during the winter months. Including a variety of nutrient-rich foods can help your body better handle seasonal illnesses.

Try adding:
🍊 Vitamin C: citrus fruits, bell peppers
🥕 Vitamin A: carrots, sweet potatoes
🥚 Vitamin D: eggs and fortified foods

Eating well is one way to support easier breathing all season long. 🫁

If symptoms are lingering, we’re here to help! 💙

Doctors’ visits for flu-like symptoms — fevers, sore throat, extreme fatigue and body aches — have hit the highest level in nearly 30 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and are likely to continue to rise in the coming weeks.

At least 5,000 people have died this season, including nine children.

For the week ending Dec. 27, the CDC reported that nearly 1 in 10 outpatient visits nationwide — 8.2% — were for flu-like illnesses. That’s the highest logged since the CDC started tracking such visits in 1997.

Only Montana, South Dakota, Vermont and West Virginia are experiencing low to moderate flu spread. Data for Nevada was “insufficient,” the agency said.
