The Children’s Wellness Learning Collaborative had the exciting opportunity to visit the URI Innovation Lab’s Maker Space to bring their ideas to life for their 🌸Kindness in Bloom🌸 micro business project.

Learners explored the button makers, laser printers, sublimation tools, and creative possibilities of the maker space while producing hats, mugs, t-shirts, and keychains that reflect the heart of their project—🪴spreading kindness 💝and positivity in our community. It was inspiring to watch them move from ideas and design to actually creating meaningful products.

Experiences like this show the power of hands-on learning✂️, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. When children are given the opportunity to imagine, design, and build, learning is fun and organic.

Our learners brought us on an International Adventure through their thoughtful research, creativity, and beautiful presentations at our International Fair. Each child chose a country to explore, and it was incredible to see the pride they took in sharing their learning—from vibrant displays to fascinating facts, dress, food, and cultural insights. 🌎

Our project based learning model makes this experience so meaningful not just because of knowledge gained—but the process. Our children are asking questions, making connections, supporting one another, and taking pride in their work. 🙌🏻

It’s been so rewarding to watch them dive into different cultures, ask great questions, and get excited about what they’re learning. 🇭🇺🇯🇵🇮🇪🇸🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇸🇲 Thank you to our educators and parents for all of your support of our community!!

Join us on April 25 for the Wildlife Clinic’s annual Baby Shower, sponsored by the Allstate Foundation! This family-friendly event is the perfect way to celebrate baby season while making a real difference for Rhode Island’s wildlife.

Enjoy an afternoon filled with:

🎈 Balloon animals
🦊 Educational activities
💛 And maybe even a chance to meet some of the baby animals in our care!

Every spring, we welcome a surge of orphaned and injured wildlife, and this event helps us prepare. Donations of feeding supplies and nursery essentials go directly toward the lifesaving care these tiny patients depend on.

✨ This week our learning spaces were buzzing with creativity and innovation!

Students explored our Maker Space, transforming recycled 📦 materials into imaginative new products while thinking about sustainability and design. 📐Our creators tested their hand-made mini sled designs during our outdoor 🏂sledding times. In our Micro Business Lab, learners worked on fine tuning our Kindness in 🌻Bloom logo, and they chose designs for the different products we will be making and selling.

Our young writers 📚 worked together to problem solve as they became secret agents during a fun “Classroom Spy” 🔍 writing activity, crafting creative, evidence based theories about who the spy might be. During STEM exploration we formulated 🧪crystals and built challenging structures. Our SEL lesson about gratitude included writing about the different people we are grateful for in our program and our lives. 💕

We finished our week with a Mini Winter Olympics. Everyone earned medals 🏅 for the country they are researching about for our upcoming International Fair 🌎 on March 25th.

It was a week full of creativity, entrepreneurship, imagination, and joyful learning together!

Our learning collaborative has been busy this February! We are so proud of how well our learners are working and playing together! 👏🏻

We have been researching different states, 📚writing book reviews, and practicing our presentation skills🙌🏻. SEL lessons this month focused on being an illuminator💡, showing appreciation for one another, and ways we display courage. We practiced following recipes and measurements as we made homemade ice cream and oobleck. Creative logo designs 🎨 were developed by our teams for our micro business, Kindness in Bloom. 🌸 So much collaboration, curiosity, and teamwork happening all around; learning and building community truly comes alive when we do it together. ☀️

A huge thank you to The Wildlife Clinic of RI for visiting our program! 🦉🦅 Our students were absolutely fascinated and inspired by the incredible animal rehabilitation stories, and hands-on learning you shared with us. Your team brought science, compassion, and curiosity to life in such a meaningful way. We’re so grateful for the work you do and for giving our learners an unforgettable experience. 💚🌿

As another Compassion in Action project, our community wrote thank you notes and included ‘You Make a Difference’ poems and keychains to encourage the tireless efforts of the clinic staff and volunteers! ☀️😊
