Today we’re celebrating Administrative Professionals Day by recognizing someone who helps keep everything running smoothly, Princess!

Princess is often the first point of contact for the people we serve. She brings patience, professionalism, and a welcoming presence to every interaction, making sure everyone who walks through our doors feels seen and supported.

Her attention to detail and consistency behind the scenes plays a big role in the work we do every day. We’re grateful for all that she contributes to our team and our community.

April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to slow down and check in with ourselves.

Stress shows up in different ways for all of us. It can be overwhelming, especially when you are balancing work, school, family, and everything in between. The good news is that small, consistent habits can make a real difference.

Here are a few simple ways to manage stress every day:
• Pause and take a few minutes to breathe and reset
• Move your body, even a short walk or stretch helps
• Disconnect for a while and step away from screens
• Get enough sleep so your mind and body can recharge

At My People, we believe caring for your mental and emotional well-being is just as important as reaching your goals. This month, we encourage you to take time for yourself and support those around you.

Yesterday, My People participated in Fresh Check Day at UConn Hartford 💛

It was a great opportunity to connect with students, have meaningful conversations around mental health and wellness, and share resources that support them through different stages of life.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table and took time to engage with us!

Spaces like this help normalize conversations around mental health and remind people they are not alone.

Some of the women from My People recently volunteered their time to mentor young ladies at Grace Academy Hartford

This month’s conversation focused on friendship, what it means to show up for one another, how to build healthy connections, and how to move away from “mean girl” behaviors.

Creating space for honest dialogue and shared experiences is an important part of helping young people grow with confidence, empathy, and respect for one another.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to pour into the next generation in meaningful ways.

On March 31st, we proudly hosted our annual Spring Forward Brunch at the Chrysalis Center, Inc., bringing together community members, partners, and supporters to celebrate the progress of young adults in our Supportive Housing Program.

The event was hosted by Sharelle Gay, Director of Client Care, who helped set the tone for a meaningful gathering centered on growth, resilience, and the journey toward independence.

We were honored to hear from Robinson Camacho, Director of Supportive Housing, Abdul Rahmaan I. Muhammad, Executive Director, and David Susanin from Capitol Region, who each spoke to the importance of stable housing, guidance, and community support in helping young adults transition into adulthood.

Throughout the event, we celebrated the real progress of our clients, including transitions into independent living, employment, education, and continued development of essential life skills.

Spring Forward served as both a celebration and a reminder of the importance of continuing this work alongside our community.

Our Story

My People Clinical Services (MPCS) is a mission driven, community based social service organization established in the city of Hartford, CT in 2005 to “Support, Empower, and Rebuild” the lives of individuals and families in the Greater Hartford area. As a collective group of culturally competent and diverse professionals consisting of social workers, marriage and family therapists, parent educators, therapeutic support specialists, and professional human service practitioners we aim to advocate, empower, and strengthen the lives of all families behind the mission “To enable My People to help Your People so that Our People will succeed”.

Recognizing the urgency of social and mental health needs of Hartford youth and families, our staff is recruited and trained to provide immediate therapeutic and crisis intervention support services to families. Our treatment services are non-traditional, creative and holistic which highlights several of the strengths of our staff that are dedicated to the wellness of our community. MPCS staffs are trained to advocate and empower youth and parents to overcome family disruptions, parenting deficits, negative effects of domestic violence, substance abuse recovery issues, and other barriers impacting independence, safety, and stability.
