It’s one of the simplest ways to avoid setbacks when returning to activity.

The idea is simple: don’t increase your activity by more than about 10% per week above what your body is used to. So if you normally walk 10 minutes, try 11 next time, not 20.

Whether you’re coming back from an injury or starting a new workout, doing too much too soon can overload your body. Small, steady increases give your muscles, joints, and nervous system time to adapt safely.

The goal isn’t to do more as fast as possible, it’s to progress without flare-ups.
