Today we celebrate International Cochlear Implant Day!! A life-changing innovation that provides access to sound for individuals with severe to profound hearing loss. 🦻

Cochlear implants are different from hearing aids — they don’t just amplify sound, they directly stimulate the auditory nerve, bypassing damaged hair cells in the cochlea.

✨ Cochlear implant facts:
• Over 1 million people worldwide have cochlear implants.
• They can be implanted in children as young as 9–12 months, supporting critical speech and language development.
• Many recipients report significant improvement in speech understanding, even in noise.
• Cochlear implants can be used in one ear (unilateral) or both ears (bilateral) for improved localization and clarity.

Early identification, intervention, and access to technology can make a lifelong difference. Today we celebrate the science, the sound, and the people whose lives are changed every day. 💬🎶
