The Willows had a fun day celebrating Rubber Ducky Day !

Rubber Ducky Day is an annual celebration on January 13th.

📺 The holiday was inspired by Ernie from Sesame Street and his famous song “Rubber Duckie” (which even hit the Billboard charts in 1970!).

🛁 Rubber duckies were originally made from hard rubber—they didn’t float until manufacturers switched to vinyl.

🌍 One of the biggest rubber duck races ever involved thousands of ducks released into rivers for charity events around the world.

🚢 In 1992, a cargo ship spilled 28,000 rubber ducks into the ocean—some were found years later on beaches across the globe, helping scientists study ocean currents.

🧸 The rubber duck is often considered a symbol of happiness, comfort, and childhood nostalgia.

🎉 There’s even a giant rubber duck that travels the world—over 60 feet tall—bringing smiles wherever it goes.

🛸👽 January 2nd was National Science Fiction Day, the aliens landed for Happy Hour!
Staff and Residents enjoyed some out-of-this-world drinks, cosmic vibes, tin-foil hat making, and intergalactic fun with live music entertainment.

We love to have fun here at the Willows at East Lansing! In preparation for Santa’s visits, we played Reindeer Games with residents and staff today and had an absolute blast 😊 So much fun spreading the holiday cheer!

Meet our November and December OGOs, Tammy and Kody!

Kody is an incredible med tech and mentor who works in our Assisted Living. He is such a light and joy to be around, and takes incredible care of each resident he comes in contact with. We are so appreciative of his servant leadership and positive attitude!

Tammy is a wonderful environmental services assistant who truly makes our campus sparkling! She is so hardworking and her constant dedication does not go unnoticed.

We are so thankful for both of these remarkable employees. They go above and beyond every single day, and we could not do what we do without them!

At The Willows at East Lansing, our compassion and generosity does not stop with the residents we serve every day. We want to make sure our families and communities feel supported during this holiday season as well. Because of the incredible generosity of our campus, we raised over $400 of donated items and cash to give back to Capital Area Humane Society for animals in need! Every toy, treat and dollar donated will make a real difference. We’re truly grateful for the opportunity (and sweet animal snuggles).

This week, we had the incredible opportunity to make one of our residents dreams come true and attend a Broadway show at the Wharton Center, The Wiz! We were treated like absolute royalty and had an incredible time together. It was truly an experience of a lifetime!

Did you hear? Christmas came early here at the Willows at East Lansing! We are very excited to have a brand-new bus at our campus 😊 we can't wait to serve each of our residents and loved ones soon in this beautiful new vehicle! Coming soon to an outing near you!
