Center - Research in Autism, Intellectual & Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Center for Research in Autism, Intellectual and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities: coalition of researchers focused on meeting the needs of the community.

RAIND's vision: to become a national and international leader in research, training, and outreach in neurodevelopmental disabilities that provides tangible benefits to the global community. RAIND's mission: to improve the qualify of life of people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families across the lifespan. RAIND's core values:
1) respecting human dignity
2) engaging with community stakeholders in all of our efforts including individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities, their family members, service providers, administrators and policy makers
3) including diverse populations and emphasizing natural, real-world social contexts in research activities
4) creating a scholarly environmental that embraces multidisciplinary approaches to problem solving
5) using the best available evidence to guide research, training and practice

The MSU Family Stress Lab is working with Culver's in Okemos (3440 Okemos Rd., Okemos, MI) to host a fundraiser supporting the lab's autism sibling research. Don't forget that the deadline to apply to be a MI-LEND trainee is approaching quickly! MI-LEND is an interdisciplinary leadership training program that trains Michigan’s emerging leaders in disability.

The application for the 2021-2022 Michigan Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (MI-LEND) leadership training program is now open! Potential trainees have until May 1, 2022, to apply. To learn more, check out the MI-LEND recruitment flier below.

MI-LEND is an interdisciplinary leadership training program that trains Michigan’s emerging leaders in disability. Trainees can be from anywhere in the state, but need to be at least one of the following:
-A student currently enrolled in a Masters program or accepted for the fall semester (Fall 2022)
-Doctoral students
-Post-doctoral students and fellows
-Residents
-Community professionals who have completed the basic professional level of training in their disciplines
-Family members of an individual with a disability (parent, sibling)
-Individuals with disabilities (self-advocates)

Did you know that March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness month? Each March, the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities works to highlight the many ways in which people with and without disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities.

Take time this month to reflect on and increase awareness about the inclusion of people with NDD/DDs, including awareness of the barriers that people with NDD/DDs sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live.
