East Village Place is excited to announce our new 10-week Bingosize program, brought to us by Baystate Medical Center! Led by trained facilitator Diana Chung-Edwards, Bingosize combines fun exercise routines and health education with the classic game of bingo. This evidence-based program is designed to help seniors stay active, improve balance, and connect with others—all while learning important tips for safe, healthy living. With falls being a leading cause of injury, we’re committed to supporting our community’s strength and well-being.

We celebrated National Activity Professionals Week, and we’re shining a spotlight on Charlotte Fields, Angela Pudlo, Raya Mackechnie and Jane Spear, our incredible Community Life Assistants at East Village Place! With multiple years of dedication, they are the heart and spirit of our community, bringing joy and connection through meaningful, person-centered programs.

Whether it’s sharing their passion and inspiring curiosity through Watermark University classes or the way they make programs fun and interesting, they light up the room with their creativity
and always know how to make everyone smile, they truly shape a brighter future for our residents.

Our cozy cafe at East Village Place is the perfect spot to relax and connect. Residents love gathering for morning socials, enjoying our fancy coffee machine (with hot cocoa, too!), and spending afternoons with trivia, cards, and reminiscing. Come join the fun and experience the warmth of our community!

We held a bubble gum blowing contest and were surprised at how well everyone did. We learned a lot of facts and trivia about bubble gum. Pat shared that he was older than when bubble gum was created. It was challenging to get pictures of all the bubbles blown, as they would pop before the picture was taken! Sue and Tina were the best bubble blowers and the group voted Tina the winner. She won bubble gum socks and a drink bottle. A fun time was had by all.

Our residents had a wonderful time at this month’s Scrumptious Delights class with Sherry Mayer! We enjoyed a delicious Nutella dip paired with fresh fruit—truly a sweet treat and a highlight of our month. 🍫🍓🍈

We are so fortunate at East Village Place to have volunteer Paul Cardone visit every other month to present his fascinating astronomy program! His last session explored the James Webb Space Telescope and the breathtaking images it captures. Join us for the next presentation on March 3rd, where the spotlight will be on "Women in Astronomy." Don’t miss this inspiring event!

This was a Watermark University class, Chef's Table, led by Steve Michon. Today's treat is stuffed pretzels. Steve showed us how to make them step by step. The pretzels were stuffed with peanut butter or caramel. They were delicious!

We are preparing for Valentine's Day next month. East Village Place ladies, were excited to make Valentine bouquets with the help of Jane Spear, Activity Assistant. Jane has experience working at a florist shop and provided us with a wonderful class with beautiful results!

Maryadele Moore held her popular Watermark University class, Family Recipes, this month. She coordinates with one of the residents, who shares a family recipe from their parents or grandparents. Maryadele makes the recipe and shares the history of the place that the family member is from or where the food originated. This class featured Rugelach, a dessert cookie, from Israel.

Just before the holidays, all associates at East Village Place received a gift from our residents and families. The Associate fund is set up to allow residents and their families to contribute throughout the year to show their appreciation for all that the staff do to provide the best care to everyone living at East Village Place. Al Riberdy, representing the residents, enjoyed handing out the gifts.

Our community celebrated by having Chet Kerr entertain, serving appetizers and counting down to the new year!
