We had a great workshop yesterday at the Resiliency Center in East Palestine, We reviewed the importance of being social, of having a connection to someone or something. Our social connections are the number 1 stand-alone predictor to a healthy life.
I introduced perspective/mindset as another contributing factor to our overall wellness. Our perspective influences our mental, emotional and physical well-being.
Then we talked about stress. What it is and how to lower it. Studies indicate that stress is a contributing factor to Alzheimer's and other cognitive decline issues as well as other health concerns. Stress is an internal reaction to an external event. For example, you have a tight deadline at work, external event. You feel stressed. When you break stress down, you are overwhelmed, anxious, afraid, internal reaction. You feel tension throughout your body, especially in the chest and abdomen, another internal reaction. The emotions you feel is what causes your physical symptoms.
The long-term solution to lowering stress is to change your perspective. This, however, doesn't happen overnight. So we discussed several activities that can be easily implemented as a short-term solution for reducing stress.
At our next workshop we will be discussing good stress. Yes, there is such a thing. We will also be discussing anxiety as well as how to improve your sleep. Workshop will be held on Tuesday, November 11th, from 5-6. We meet at the Resiliency Center located at 50410 OH-14, East Palestine, OH. Workshops are complimentary. Please R.S.V.P. to 330 727 7640 to reserve your spot.
Infinite Love and Gratitude 🤟.
