1. Myth: Regulation means “fixing” dysregulation.
Resonance Reality: Dysregulation isn’t a flaw to fix. It’s your body’s adaptive response to your lived experience. Resonance invites curiosity and connection—meeting your system where it is, not forcing it to change.
2. Myth: Calm is the goal.
Resonance Reality: Calm is just one state of many. Resonance encourages you to practice flowing across multiple states—rest, alertness, connection, and expression—without losing yourself.
3. Myth: If you’re dysregulated, you need to be fixed.
Resonance Reality: Dysregulation is a signal, not a failure. Resonance teaches us to listen to that signal, adapt, and respond with care—especially in realities we cannot control. This can help with the experiences of Anxiety and Shame in particular.
4. Myth: You can control your nervous system.
Resonance Reality: The “Automagic” functions of our body minds are only sometimes measurable. Regulation forces geometries that may not be optimal for the neural pathways in your brain, as an example. Resonance emerges when we build trust with our bodies, allowing flow instead of forcing fixes.
5. Myth: Everyone can access regulation the same way.
Resonance Reality: Bodies are diverse. Minds are diverse. Brains are diverse. Resonance honors your unique needs—whether you’re neurodivergent, living with disability, or navigating systems of oppression. What feels safe for you may look different, and that’s valid.
6. Myth: Stimming = Dysregulation
Resonance Reality: Stillness can feel inherently unsafe for many folks, especially those in neurodivergent bodies. Resonance embraces movement, rhythm, and flow as pathways to safety—like rocking, swaying, or sensory expression.
7. Myth: You must “return to normal.”
Resonance Reality: For many, “normal” was never safe. Resonance doesn’t impose a standard; it creates space for your system to find its own balance, within your lived reality, and while it can’t cure your cancer, it sure can make the experience of it less awful.
8. Myth: Stress is the enemy.
Resonance Reality: Stress is part of life. Resonance doesn’t eliminate stress; it builds capacity—so you can face challenges and return to connection without collapse. Much like pressure can turn carbon into coal and diamonds, Resonance encourages the complexity of the Diamond experience- prismatic, dimensional, and responsive.
9. Myth: Nervous system regulation happens in individuals.
Resonance Reality: Humans are wired for co-resonance (aka co-regulation). Resonance cultivates in safer relationships, environments, and systems—because no one heals alone. Resonance also allows for many styles of healing to co-occur, so there doesn’t need to be force.
10. Myth: Regulation is the end goal.
Resonance Reality: There is no endpoint. Resonance is a living process—adapting to your body, your reality, and the ever-changing world around you. Resonance encourages creative approaches to our lived experience, and you can do that in the best ways for you,
Why Resonance Matters
If “regulation” feels too rigid, unattainable, or disconnected from your lived experience, you’re not alone. Resonanceoffers an alternative: a dynamic, compassionate way to relate to your nervous system—no matter how complex your reality is.
Resonance isn’t about control. It’s about building flow, trust, and connection in a world that isn’t always safe.
