๐ถ๐๐ฃ Hand, Foot, & Mouth Disease (HFMD): What Parents Should Know
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is a common viral illness in children under 5 (but older kids and adults can get it too!).
โจ Symptoms:
โข Fever
โข Sore throat
โข Painful mouth sores
โข Rash on hands, feet, or diaper area
โจ How it spreads:
โข Coughing & sneezing
โข Saliva & nasal secretions
โข Fluid from blisters
โข Touching contaminated surfaces
โจ What to do:
โข Keep kids hydrated ๐ง
โข Offer soft, cold foods (yogurt, popsicles) ๐ฆ
โข Use acetaminophen or ibuprofen for comfort (no aspirin โ)
โข Practice good handwashing ๐งผ
Most kids recover in 7โ10 days, but contact our office if your child isnโt drinking enough fluids or symptoms worsen.
๐งด Prevention tip: Wash hands often + disinfect toys and surfaces!
