October is the start of RSV season. Learn more about RSV and how to protect your infant 🤧🤒

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that can cause common cold symyptoms in adults and older children, but may cause serious illness in babies and young children — especially in the first year of life.

💨 Symptoms may include:
• Coughing or wheezing
• Fast or labored breathing
• Runny nose and fever
• Loss of appetite or trouble feeding

The good news? There is now a safe and effective injectable protective antibody available to help prevent RSV in infants.

🌿 October is Eczema Awareness Month 🌿

Eczema (also known as atopic dermatitis) affects millions of children and adults every year — causing dry, itchy, and inflamed skin that can impact daily life.

✨ Tips for managing eczema:
💧 Moisturize often — especially after bathing
🧼 Use gentle, fragrance-free products
👕 Wear soft, breathable fabrics
🌡️ Avoid known triggers like extreme temperatures or stress

Eczema is not contagious, and with the right care plan, flare-ups can be managed. We are here to help, so if your child is affected by eczema or has had trouble controlling it, contact our office. 💙

👶🖐👣 Hand, Foot, & Mouth Disease (HFMD): What Parents Should Know

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is a common viral illness in children under 5 (but older kids and adults can get it too!).

✨ Symptoms:
• Fever
• Sore throat
• Painful mouth sores
• Rash on hands, feet, or diaper area

✨ How it spreads:
• Coughing & sneezing
• Saliva & nasal secretions
• Fluid from blisters
• Touching contaminated surfaces

✨ What to do:
• Keep kids hydrated 💧
• Offer soft, cold foods (yogurt, popsicles) 🍦
• Use acetaminophen or ibuprofen for comfort (no aspirin ❌)
• Practice good handwashing 🧼

Most kids recover in 7–10 days, but contact our office if your child isn’t drinking enough fluids or symptoms worsen.

🧴 Prevention tip: Wash hands often + disinfect toys and surfaces!
