In honor of National Farmers Day, we extend our deepest condolences to the Essner family.
Gerard Essner was a devoted husband, loving family man, and a man of deep faith. He honorably served his country as a United States Army Veteran, retiring as a Sergeant First Class (E-7) after 27 years with the Missouri Army National Guard. During his distinguished career, he faithfully deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the HHC 1140th Engineer Battalion out of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, from 2004 to 2005.
Beyond his military service, Gerard was a proud farmer—committed to his land, his community, and the values that define rural America. Tragically, his life was taken while doing what he loved, due to a senseless act of violence.
On this National Farmers Day, we honor Gerard’s life, service, and enduring legacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Essner family during this difficult time.
