Does your foot feel tingly, numb, or oddly "electric" at night? ⚡
You aren't imagining it. That "pins and needles" sensation is your body's messaging system glitching out.
The Clues:
A "zinging" feeling in your toes.
Pain that wakes you up when the house is quiet.
Weakness when you try to push off.

Is it a pinched nerve (Tarsal Tunnel)? A "pebble" in your shoe (Neuroma)? Or something systemic?
Don't let the static drown out the warning. We're here with answers, options, and treatments that fit your lifestyle:

Do you have a bumpy bone on the inside of your arch that hurts in skates or ski boots?
You might be one of the few people with an Accessory Navicular (an extra bone you were born with!).
Unfortunately, the reward for being unique in this case is a higher likelihood of tendon issues.
The good news? Treatment is available, and it's typically conservative: https://tinyurl.com/5ek74b9b

Cold-weather activities require balance and stabilization that provide a built-in workout for the small muscles in your lower extremities. The easiest way to reduce ankle swelling after work?
Legs Up the Wall Pose.
Lying flat with your legs vertical uses gravity to drain pooled blood and lymph fluid out of the feet instantly. Do this for 10 minutes when you get home!

Adding weight to your walk? Choose wisely.
🎒 Rucking (Vest): Keeps weight close to your center of gravity. Good for core/cardio (if you have arches supported!).
⚓ Ankle Weights: Drags from the bottom of the lever. High risk of hip flexor strain and tendonitis.

You haven't been bitten by a bug. You haven't walked barefoot. So why are there itchy, red bumps on your toes?
It’s likely Chilblains, an atypical reaction to cold air.
When you warm up too fast after being freezing cold, blood vessels can't handle the rush, causing swelling and itching.

We’ve all heard the old saying that grandpa can predict a snowstorm just by the ache in his knees. While it sounds like an old wives' tale, there is actually real science behind it. For any one of our patients at Syracuse Podiatry dealing with arthritis in the feet or ankles, winter isn't just a change of season, but one of increased stiffness and deep, throbbing aches. https://tinyurl.com/4tnahftx
